New to Stalker...help needed

What am I supposed to do when random objects start flying at me when trying to locate certain stashes? When I get hit it takes anywhere from 1/2 to 2/3 of my health. Is there some mitigating mechanic in the game that I'm missing? I see no enemy to fight, just random crap flying at me which I'm unable to dodge most of the time because it comes from all directions.

Sounds like you ran into a poltergeist. You need to find it and kill it. I know that sounds counterintuitive, but yeah. Basically look for a glowing ball floating thing

Look for glowing circle, there is an invisible enemy there usually that you need to kill. Most of the time they hide it in BS places like the second floor or the basement

If objects are flying at you it means a poltergeist is nearby.

They are mutants, but until killed they will look like a floating orb or blue cloud that moves around. Just blast it with your gun.

They are very tanky. Keep shooting. Keep moving, and never stay in one spot - try to use different rooms and run in and out to avoid getting hit by objects.

Find the ***** who throws it at you. Its the ugly levitating mutant, hes very cowardly and usualy hides and evades you.

Yeah hes just cloaked and looks like mist or steam. Once you kill him he will show his true ugly head.

Think my poltergeist is bugged. After reloading through a few crashes, unloading about 100 shotgun blasts point blank, and about 250 AR rounds point blank...he just keeps throwing ♥♥♥♥ at me. Think I'm going to have to reload to a different save which sucks.

Just reload. Sometimes reloading a save drops their health to "appropriate". Sometimes it is but most of times isn't an issue. Save often so you don't end up whining like that dude that doesn't save and uses only an autosave.
