They should try to make each weapon unique, for the replayability of the game ...
But I am all in for more variety, I hope they add more weapons with future dlcs.
And also get rid of those stupid bars and just show normal numbers, we had numbers in previous games.
I am 100% sure there are some weapons showing identical stats but are different, because those bars simply look the same.
This lame system is the worst.
yep there are many weapons with similar stats but work completly different. An ideal example is a rate of fire of a AK and an SMG. The same in the stats, but an SMG is far quicker.
Yeah, no game shows exact numbers in S1......
So againts very low armor stalkers eg. Bandits and againts mutants it was very good with very cheap ammo.
But try killing someone wearing a Bulat suit.
So it got a very strong Dmg reduction againts any armor above the crap tier so deals less Dmg than AR. The same is true in S2 with low pen weapons.
AR likely was better againts humans or in past medium distance.
I think Viper 5 had a 100-meter effective range in S1.
Some ammo in S1 also affected accuracy, power, penetration, and maximum effective range and durability loss.
Likely S2 also has ammo modifiers which are also not shown in any game.
So just ingame stats are not enough.
Not to mention VERY likely in both S1 and S2 most weapons have very different durability even if the stats are close.
Or some might be able to point out certain attachments others can not do.
Upgrade trees might be different,or the cost to upgrade.
So some weapons like an AK-74 likely have good durability.
Sadly there are no in-game stats
But likely S2 will be datamined and the wiki will list stuff within a few months.
It's no "balance" when there's just one or two "meta" weapons in the game, because that would result in many useless weapons nobody wants to use.
Talking about Tarkov, what makes the difference there is the armor. Weapons in Tarkov are all lethal as well especially due to the ammo. Only real exception the smallest calibres which can not pen lvl 5 and 6 armor.
If you want something more Tarkov like then there's already a great mod out there, that's rebalancing calibres in S2. Go check it out it's called "Weapons Rebalanced"!
You can increase the damage with upgrades
You can use armor piercing ammo or hollow points
Honestly just use a weapon to which you have the most ammo stashed away in your locker
Because the S 2 is a sleeper weapon, complete bloody monster once you get it upgraded.
Or use the weapon that you know enemies will drop ammo for consistently. I'm still rocking a unique S 2 I found because it's sustainable in any situation and has a stupid amount of armor penetration/accuracy. I just need to find a scope for it.
