PSA Side Mission will brick your Saves

The Side mission “A light at the End of the Tunnel” from Sidorovich (or however its written) where u have to kill a poltergeist to pick up the device. will brick your game. I had to replay 7 hours of gameplay and used WeMod to speed up the process. Every save i made after finishing that quest bricks every auto, manual or quicksave

If so, i found out Why the Game Crashes for me whenever i tried to play it

Oh yeah, I was having problems with that mission, too.

My game kept freezing up at the downward stairs leading into sewers right after picking up the portable psi device. Somehow, I happened to manage to get through the freezing by minimizing my game for a few minutes and checking up on Steam forums and/or Reddit for a bit. After I'd come back, the game would work just fine like nothing happened. I dunno what the hell is up with those stairs, but it's something really, really messed up.

I also chucked a few bolts down the stairs just to make sure it's not some sort of bizarre anomaly doing this on purpose. Maybe try chucking a few bolts down the stairs before you descend, tab out when it freezes, and then give it a few minutes to get back before continuing down the stairs?

Im honestly not risking it anymore. I got lucky honestly. I did not know autosaves overwrite quicksaves. I had 1 working save left otherwise it would have been a new game for me. 24hrs in. Gonna manual save every quest i pick up now.

what it did for me is, i went into the Sewers and further on, you then get to Fight a Burer on the way Out. as it was my First Stalker 2 Burer Encounter, he got me Good. and i had to load the Save. i then Died again and thought okay it's 3AM for me, i'll just continue playing later on.
Later on came and i booted up the game all Going well until i hit Continue, after that Constant UE5 Crashes and something about the Win Shipping Exe. i then Added that File to the Exception in my Anti Virus, as i saw it that it'd be a Fix. i did exactly that and checked File Integrity.

Nothing Worked. so if you come Across here, got the Same Issue, may aforementioned Fix will hopefully help you

Edit: I was also fully-stocked with a full inventory at the time, which probably added to the confusion my character being too full of items to proceed or if it really was a freezing bug. Took me like 3-4 tries, plus I had to go through the process again after a cheap death falling down stairs to get through these Stairs of Doom.

Thanks for the heads up. Im not this far in the game, but i will make sure to avoid this mission until its fixed.

My game would freeze when going into that tunnel, but I would wait maybe 10 seconds and it would going through. One time I died and it crashed, but another 2 deaths nothing happened.

But once I made it through after killing the enemy it had no problems and the new saves are just fine.

For what its worth it didn't brick my save... but that cheap bastard only pays you 1500 and tells you to suck it so avoid it anyway lol

Been playing normally now since i avoided that side mission

It does not brick your game,if you go enough saves back you can reload a game...usually the first 3-4 game saves will crash everytime.

Hey guys, i also hit this issue when playing, was able to work around it however by walking back to the entrance instead of descending into the tunnel and handing in the emitter. In my experience if you descend down the tunnel and get a weird mini freeze any saves after that point will cause your game to crash when reloaded.

I hope this helps at least one of you.

lol I gave up, any side quest I do crashes my game in the village

My game froze up and i just waited like a minute. it started working like nothing happened.
