There is a mod on Nexus mods that will reduce the price of repairs or even remove it completely.
https://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heartofchornobyl/mods/77
I also found a post showing how to sell items for the "full" retail amount.
Steps to sell for full amount:
1. Put all items you want to sell into the window. Right-Click on any of the items and hover over the word "remove," but do NOT click it.
2. Un-hover and you should see the amount of your sale go up to the full retail price.
3. Drag ANY stacked item up to the window. While that stacked item is asking you how many to drop you click on the confirm for the sale of the item.
the logistics of this game are here and there. you really have to do runs and decide to, ♥♥♥♥ is not going to work out if you pick up some stuff then suddenly need to be able to run at full speed from some deadly monster in the swamp so. the game can be very unforgiving.
also if you enjoy hording its also going to hurt when you have to sell stuff you kind of would rather keep.
After that, the damage rate is low - you will be able to earn far more money by the same procedure than the depreciation rate when you use your equipment.
I've got 25k already, and Im at the Garbage zone, on my 3rd set of armour. I have so much ammo and consumable from looting around that I have to back to towns to deposit in my stash so that they dont encumber me.
And then the main issue of the game shows: since there's no revolutionary A-Life, and nothing is happening outside the player's range, once you have your economy sorted out, there's nothing interesting to do other than follow story missions. There's no reason to go get lost in the wilderness hoping you will find something interesting. Because you know there's none, the world is empty and static, and everything spawns around you.
And you don't have any other money issues either, so there's zero need to go looting for stuff.
1) Stack of items (Ammunition appears to work best, particularly 5.56 AP)
2) Drag into sell box, when prompted select 'Sell All'
3) Drag the stack back from the sell window to your inventory.
4) A prompt will appear to return all, do not click it yet.
4) The sale price will noticeably increase.
5) Left click on 'Sell'
6) Left click on 'return all'
7) repeat.
This should give you the funds and the stack back, rinse and repeat. In theory, this should give you lots of coupons for upgrades, repairs, etc.
Tis pretty scummy, but, I agree, the running cost of stalking is incredibly high at present.
I think the expectation of the game on the player is to take as little damage as possible and to repair often - The game cycle suggests you go out on a raid for a specific objective, collect, return, repair, so, for those long exploration raids, you have to be even more cautious with engagements and selective with what you pick up.
