Best loadout?
So, I tried many possible loadouts, differnt upgrades, different ammo and here is what I would say is the best solution for myself:

The only AK I was really using is the Valik Lumoxx's AKM-74S with few upgrades
The second gun I preffer is the M860 MONOLITH which can be found in a sidequest

When it comes to the armor/suits, I finally dound the Wanderer Suit (Also from the side quest)

The AK74 with Optic on it is a great choice, especially if you use also a silencer. One-tap headshots with the 5.45x39 PP ammo.
For the M860, I use only slugs, also the upgrades were pointed to the Smooth-bore barell.

When it comes to Pistols, I didn't upgrade much the USP or any other pistol, I stick to the Skif's pistol with all the upgrades, longer magazine and a silencer.

What are your thoughts when it comes to Loadout setups?

I travelled almost across halp the map already :D Not sure why some people o nteh Redit and online hype the Vintorez so much. Tried it and it didn't work that good.

I found getting attached to a single loadout could be hard, at least on veteran. Repair costs are too high, ammo of the given type tends to end up quickly. So for the each next journey I get new, preferably maintained guns, with ammo type I did not use for a while before. And then rotate them when I find new non broken gun and get more ammo of different kind later again.

As dude above me pointed out - it doesnt seem to be advantageous to be sentimetal towards gear. In this game, as it stands atm its "consumer goods". Best gun is the one you have enough ammo for. Customised guns seem to cost fortune to repair. Better to keep simple AK with abundance of ammo and you can always pick decent quiality one.

Vintar for the win, one of the most iconic guns in the series :)

Yes it does - silenced, better range than AK, better damage, faster and flatter bullet speed - those are important things you know :)

Fully upgraded akm for now. Ammo is easy to find. Only in the garbage section though, hopefully I'll find something better soon.

Surprisingly, the Riemann from the Deluxe edition carried me through a fair ways. It's heavier than some options but already suppressed and the burst fire only uses two rounds and strings them crazy fast, as the Kriss does. With an optic it's a close to medium range headshot machine and quite fun to use.

I paired it with whatever the best shotgun was at the time for when things get ugly.

For sidearms I had a fully tricked out USP for sneaky work but swapped it out for a modded MAC-10 when available which is crazy fun in a pinch. The description calls it junk but it's a very competent backup option and has saved me more than once, just watch your ammo supply.

Right now I've gone all the way back to a unique camo patterned AK-74 you get through the main story. Getting a suppressor made all the difference, the 74s are cheaper to maintain than some mid to upper tier weapons and you'll never be wanting for ammo. Got this paired with a SPAS-12 which is all kinds of amazing.

Monolith pump with 76's stays on me all the time. I alternate between the ar4 and riemann.

Been running Drowned (AK74 w/GP25 you get from a side mission) with the PSO scope and rifle suppressor for mid/long and sometimes close. Wanted to switch over to 5.56 since I found quite a few but the ammo for 5.45 makes the AK platform ideal to not having to worry about ammo and very Tarkovy vibe. 2nd primary is a pump action shotgun for personal preference. I have the SPAS-12 and it outperforms when you gotta "oh ♥♥♥♥" at close range but pump is fun for me. Pistol is UDP 45 suppressed. Skif's starter or the DLC PTM with mag and suppressor mod is ideal too since availability of ammo. I would have still be running the PTM if it wasn't for my love for .45 UDP.
