Why is aiming so hard in this game?
inb4
"You just suck"
"Realism, guns are hard to use"

and of course the classic
"git gud"

What specifically about this FPS makes it so much more unwieldy compared to other games?

I even find it hard to use the knife on the dog packs or hordes of those rat things.

The invisible stealth ambush mutants or the fleshys that jump into your face, i can fire a buckshot when they are the only thing on my screen and i'll miss.

Yeah i'm managing, I try and lure things into anomalies where possible, i'll wait around corners and keep the sights where I know enemies will walk around corners, I use grenades for the dog / rat packs.

It's just the simple act of moving a mouse to put reticle on target seems to be fighting against me and I can't pin down why.

What would the mod be called? I already downloaded an optimised tweaks mod that said a "mouse fix" was included, but i didn't notice anything, is there one specifically to balance the X and Y sensitivity?

I got it ty
the guns don't shoot completely straight either. there are upgrades to them which reduces spread of shots. i've been aiming on targets with a scoped weapon and the shots can be a bit wild at times
never had problems aiming
also achieved 5 headshots in 10sec very quick

human enemys are no problem, just if you have no ammo, and trying to loot their dead friends get some ammo and reloading, while popping medipacs

had also many strange is auto aim active feelings since crosshair went exact to the head of a new spawned enemy

knive is pretty useless

It had to have been a forced release.

That mod that equalises the X / Y mouse sensitivity is literally a game changer.

I grabbed an input lag reduction mod too, it's incomparably better.

The knife is still pretty useless because you run out of stamina in 3-5 swings and the range is far too small,

But with both X and Y sensitivity set to 40 the gun control is completely fixed.

Does anyone even know why such a stupid and unnatural offset is built into the game by default without it even being an option to change in the control settings?

just throw grenades at your problems :)
Stalker2 has terrible controller aiming. It's horrible. They should fix the controller aiming mechanism and add a custom stick dead-zone option.

And yet you don't post it for someone else...? That's how forums work.

lmao it's been quite a few months and "Check out the X Y axis mod on nexus" was more than enough for me to find it after I was told specifically about what the mod was for.

But here you go, enjoy

https://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heartofchornobyl/mods/57

According to comments on that mod page, the devs for the game patched it in December 2024 to make what this mod does the default setting anyway so you don't need it.
