the Intel 13 and 14 gen problem
I have an intel 13.900kf 3ghz and during compiling shaders or whatever at startup I receive a "ran out of video memory" error. Its not a video memory problem, its definitely the 13 and 14 series cpus. Im on a very strong and stable 4090 Suprim.

So i guess my question here if I have one is: What kind of recourse do we have here? These mass produced in literally most PCs and laptops are actual time bombs that are failing to even run directX 12 games???(same situation happened to me recently with Hogwarts Legacy but it eventually worked and ran, this game will not) What exactly is the problem here and does anyone know if there is a thing I can do to get this game to run?

Sure I can RMA or whatever but DAMN seriously? Just to get another faulty piece of hardware? Thats a working business model? Everyone who games on these will have to try and RMA????

Any insight and discussion will help, thanks guys.

Ill look into it - but your same setup is being questioned in the "crash simulator 2k24 " discussion....

ive solved "not enough video memory" on startup by adding more voltage, its a 100% reproducable issue, decrease vorlate - get error on startup, increase voltage - play with no issues, applies for undervolted cpus only!!!

13600K with 4090 here, playing on a 42 inch LG C2 with VRR enabled and everything maxed out... no issues with compiling the shaders here. 1 crash so far while playing.

Did you update the bios to address the overvolting issues?

first of all this is not the first game with such behavior on intel and not the last, get used to it, this is gonna be every unreal engine game you see, unless you solve the issue with your cpu, rma is not the only right solutuon - configuring cpu in bios is the right solution. Updating your bios is also something you need to do, but dont expect issues magically disappear, update its only mandatory to prevent cpu damage.

Forgive me for being a little less tech savvy but can you give me a step by step on how exactly to do that? Im on an MSI Infinite prebuild. Idk how to change voltages. 13900kf all watercooled so i dont want to touch the machine.

I dont disagree at all Id just rather not completely take a loss on 5500 dollar investment.

the very first step1 would be to update bios, which would completely reset all the settings in the bios, applying safe settings by default which are supposed to work

another step you could try before or after updating bios: check you cpu with intel check tool, it can diagnose your cpu and report if device is already damaged
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/15951/intel-processor-diagnostic-tool.html

i would update bios first, check later, message me in discord if you need further assistance .industria

Why did you spend $5500 on just a CPU?!? You coulda gotten a 9800X3D and all the required hardware to run it with 256GB of RAM for that, and still had thousands left over!

BTG...lol my guy.,..the whole prebuild was 5500. So its mother board is also made for intel yada yada watercooled so hard to work with...it means if i took his suggestion, id have to scrap the whole machine. a 5500 dollar investment. read more carefully mano XD

Well f. You should flash (update) mobo bios and cpu chipset drivers. Then tweak CPU settings from mobo bios to make the CPU run more stable. Your 5,5k build probably has a mobo which bios has a simple dropdown menu for CPU settings. Change that from default to 2-3 notches "worse". If it's in mode 9, try something like 12. If no mode settings, just look into the user manual of your mobo or check youtube for video guides that focus on the same bios you have. Double check that all update files you get and are about to install are for your exact CPU and Mobo.

This is for 12th gen I recall, but it's a starting point and educating on the matter,

Good luck.

Thanks a ton. Taking all the advice and giving it a college try. This definitely sucks. I have refunded for now. Cheers gents

Not really sure your confusion. Your cpu is failing. You seem to know that. Get it replaced by Intel. The replacement will not fail with the latest bios so not sure why it would be a faulty replacement. My 14700k works fine in this game.

That makes no sense. if it's not hardline, it's extremely likely for it to be a simple motherboard and CPU swap, which is actually EASIER with softline watercooling than it is with air cooling. I also don't know of any watercooling blocks for LGA1700 Intel sockets that don't have the hardware to make them compatible with AMD AM4 and AM5 sockets. (and if it didn't come in the accessories bag with your system, you can get it from the manufacturer of the block for like $5 to cover shipping)

I have a suggestion for you, because you are a pedantic piece of ♥♥♥♥. Why dont you bulletpoint and offer suggestions via step by step approach instead of assuming you know everything I do. Even children develop the ability to know other beings are different.
Tell you what I beg and pray to whatever deity exists in the universe i could have 2 minutes alone with a complete bag of ♥♥♥♥ like you in a room. I would teach you the manners you are forgetting. You sack of ♥♥♥♥

RMA the cpu, or you can tst things like cyberpunk, it shoulfd flatline on start too, anything that uses ooodle compiler.

intel increased their warranty with +2 years, that would make a total of 5 year warranty.
youll get a new cpu, you then update your bios to the latest versions that should fix the problem and youre good to go.

i had a 13900k fry on me myself, now ive got a 14900k from rma deal and its perfectly fine, for now lol, we shall yet see if the bios truly prevents more frying. the other one fried only after 2 years of excellence.
