everywhere else along the Duga perimteter fence its basically a kill zone for IPSF or Monolith Snipers depending on what point of story you're in.
the entrie region could be story locked, Im not sure. I never tried going there until the main quest brought me there
I can now go there is temrs of story, however it was still extremely confusing. Imo it would make more sense to entirely block off the checkpoint so player cant get there or attempt to without knowing beforehand.
It is linear because it's a quest-progression locked area. Much like SIRCAA, Clear Sky Base, and the Iron Forest basically instantly killing you. The game just does a ♥♥♥♥ job at making it clear that you shouldn't go there yet aside from just killing you off.
Check for a sewer/bunker opening nearby the objective marker.

Its not a design friendly decision to make it visually open for players to explore yet kill them with invisible sniper just to stop them going further until reaching the story. It should be readily apparent, thats design 101
Its not open, theres a 20foot wall and guard towers and the gates dont open, if you go around the corner after the snipers yell a warning and you get shot, you should get the idea, clearly some people have less braincells than a brick. Its by "design" that you die if you understand the importance of Duga.

Or better a better example, go put your head in a gas oven and turn the gas on, you will suffocate, but you cant see the gas.
Its open, play the game. There is no warning shot. You get killed after walking into perimeter regardless if everyone there is dead. Check your facts before visiting thead and get some gamedev experience first hand before talking nonsense about lame excuse.
