should i kill the friendly dudes that are downed?

this is my first stalker game so i don't know what to expect, i don't know why some dudes are ally and and some others enemy, but i've come to a conclusion that i'm wasting too many medkits on friendly dudes to revive them, do i need to revive them at all? or what happens if i just kill and loot'em while they are down? also for the love of god, i just can't find the weapons of the enemy soldiers that i've killed, is there anything i can do to highlight them ?

Nope, you can just wait for them to die and take their loot.

Most people will tell you giving a medkit to any downed stalker is a medkit wasted.

they keep fighting around with mutants and get downed and then cry for help, and i keep reviving them lol, but what happens if i just kill them when they are passing by or something, does it actually have any negative impact?

You get rep if you help them and sometimes stash coordinates. You can also just finish them or help them get the stash location and onetap them. Its up to you, just dont heal people like mercs and other hostile groups - its contraproductive.

In the previous games it was an opportunity to see A-Life in action; Going on to spot a random friendly NPC in a squad scanning an anomaly field only to realise it was the dude you had rescued at some time in the past.

In here, yes, it's generally a waste.

I've come across some down friendlys I believe, saying I've got a scratch here but no prompt to give them anything. Is that still a friendly or no?? I think I killed the last one that was downed because there was no prompt to help that injured soul so I gave him a swift death

I always heal them because it's the right thing to do. ;)
