Where do you sell Artifacts for more value?
Got a Magma Artifact worth 14k, everyone is buying it for less than 20% of that value, is there a place somewhat near the starting zone to sell it for more or do I just deal with it and pawn it for it's current price?

Was expecting to sell my artifact to buy a gun sight, as its marked value was 14k and I remembered the holo sights were 4k or so.

I put the holo on the buy tab and the artifact on sell tab... But it was not possible to do the trade as he would value the artifact at just bit over 1k. So no trade then.

I sold it anyway to at least get some money. After that he would sell it back for 18k wut?

The trade values are nonsensical and unbelievable, even if they are so for some gameplay reasons. There are better ways to do this.

Someone mentioned that traders have a hidden reputation system going on. You have to help them or their folks to get better prices.

In the old games, scientists and ecologists usually give more money for artifacts. Not sure about the new game though.

First - get rep to green by doing sidequests in the settlement of the trader, unless you already have good rep with that faction
Second - selling is bugged, use this as workaround (https://www.reddit.com/r/stalker/comments/1gwlh73/stalker_2_economy_repair_cost_workaround/), just in case save before trading.
Third - scientists give you the most for artifacts but you gotta find them. As far as I understand lore of S2 there are two groups of scientists, one of them is in the modern building on the map.

I dont know if this is a bug but right clicking the item in the trader menu then clicking off of it gives you full price lol

Everything sells at default 1/3 of the value you see in your inventory, even green-status traders. I have yet to notice any impact on price between good or bad reputation. Heck, even Sidorovich who I pissed because I refused his orders is still giving me the same price as any other trader.

it doesn't work. if you sell it, you'll get the same amount of money as without the bug

Once the icons turn GREEN, it means you are "respected" and prices are lower and in theory they buy from you at higher price, problem is, you need to farm quests from the barkeeper, and since you can only take 1 quest then wait 4-5 days to reset. It will be a boring grind, not counting the cost for ammo and gear repair everytime you go and kill bandits ecc.. so not only will never be worth it, but it will also take some time.

Good luck

Weapons and Armor traders are the best traders to sell artifacts to. They will offer to buy them at a price of 34.5% of their inventory value. Other specific traders, such as Bartenders or Ragman, will only buy your artifacts for less at 23%.

You can quickly get an idea of how good of a price you'll get with a trader by placing a sausage in the sell window. Odds are, you have one in your pocket. Coupon to sausage ratio = quick info on price.

I tried that once and the next thing I knew I was in jail.
