HOW DO I GET THE TOPAZ SCANNER INTO MY HANDS!!!!!!

I get to point one, then what? What key do I press to get the Topaz Scanner 3 on the ground! I've tried everything I must be missing something.

go to a point and press F

I can't believe how vague all responses to this problem are everywhere. Here is the answer. You have to pick up the artifact by the green ooze and the tank marked with an exclamation point on your hud. After you have the artifact you proceed toward the power line tower in the same direction you have been heading. The is an electrical half dome on the ground before you get there and as you approach it, an F should show up that says place the scanner. QED

Also you need to have the Echo Detector equipped (in your hand) to find the artifact (called Slug). gf hl

Dont know if you really need to find the Artifact first, but yeah, you need to walk up to the Powerline and theres a little Glowing Dome on the ground, if you aproach it, you can deploy the Scanner with F, and than get clear because Anomalies wil jump out everywhere.

Also further down the story you come accross Deployed Scanners, if you Activate them get clear as you get a lethal dose of radiation.
