We've reached this disgusting stage...
So, I played it for a bit, and honestly, I’m pretty disappointed. Gameplay-wise, there’s nothing “wow” about it—though to be fair, maybe that’s just me, and I’m sure there are people out there who might enjoy it.

But the optimization... oh man, it’s just awful.
Now, I get it, I’m not running a 4090 (though I’ve seen plenty of people with top-tier GPUs complaining about performance issues), but seriously, with this input lag, it’s borderline unplayable. Without the frame generator, I’m getting around 50 FPS; with it on, it goes up to 90-100. It might look smooth, but it doesn’t compensate for the input lag, and when the frames drop, it’s a total mess.

Maybe some people will enjoy this “experience,” but as someone used to playing shooters with extremely low input delay, this feels like hell to me. It completely breaks any sense of immersion.

And you can’t even excuse the performance by saying, “Well, at least it’s because of ultra-mega-high-end graphics,” because it’s just not. There’s nothing revolutionary about the game’s visuals. There are games from 4-5 years ago that look better than this disaster.

Unfortunately, gaming has reached a point where developers rely not 100% but 300% on technologies like DLSS, FSR, FG, and the like, while putting literally zero effort into optimization. They keep releasing early-access games full of bugs. But hey, we gamers taught them this was okay—they’ll release unfinished products at full price, and we’ll pay to be their beta testers.

If a game in this state had been released 15-20 years ago, the studio would have been torn apart, the game would’ve been pulled immediately, and refunds would have been handed out to anyone unlucky enough to buy it.

Honestly, it’s nauseating.

You definately never have touched an alpha build.

If a game was released in this state 15-20 years ago it would be super popular game, getting its own trilogy, mod support, massive community and studio working on sequel while their country is in war .. :wangwithit:

Crikey, just wait for the bloody patch.
I'm sure they are working on it.

I wouldn't call this early access. What I've played feels "Complete." but a fair bit just isn't working properly. It's a game that should of been delayed till next year as the community originally thought was going to happen. It isn't ready for full release and I don't think it will be ready for another few months if not more. Depends entirely on their working conditions/how much they give a damn.

Ah man you kids crack me up. Literally have zero frame of reference if you think that’s true.

Theres mouse smoothing and the Y axis has a lower value by default in the config files... I haven't touched it yet but you might want to take a look...

Yeah, stay out of the zone...Its not for you!

The problem is that this game has been hyped as some AAA 70 euro game with the most cutting edge technology attracting a whole new public who have never played or heard of the originals. Especially with a game pass release.

But instead we got a 2019 looking AA indie game with lots of euro-jank like the game was always was meant to be. But this should have been 39 euros max and preferably with a early access tag because of the glaring technical issues right now.

It would be even more popular if it had been released 60 years ago.

We? No, it's you. What's your specs?

Game runs perfectly for me on Epic and I'm not running a 4090 either.

Well, thats just gaming industry in 2024. UE5 is pushed for marketing. UE5 is an engine where no released GPU will run comfy, not even a 4090. And Idc about some people being able to run the game just fine. Plenty of evidence on YT that it clearly has optimization problems. I would suggest part of the problem are toxic content creators like BigFry and his clickabait friend Bludrake. Especially Bludrake who is very active at promoting UE5 junk with "hyper realism" which adds nothing except worsens optimization. Their fanbase often has this mentality like "haha, you are broke! time to upgwade, haha!"

Imagine they would have talked to VALVE and released Stalker 2 on Source 2 :steamhappy:

And have to ask, how much hype did you subscribe to before release? B\c it sounds like you were really looking forward and jumped on hype train. Hype kills player experience, just saying.

Funny you say that, why not read the release history of the first STALKER game, oh, just about 20 years ago now...

5600x + RTX 3070, 32 GB RAM and the game feels like garbage. :)

They were being ironic, because that's exactly how the first STALKER release went. And it went on to be a trilogy, mod support, and a massive community.
