Yeah the AI system is most definitely different than Stalker1. In stalker1, you'd come across enemies that were already a part of the world, freely roaming around doing their thing. In S2 I have clearly seen enemies spawn in a sequence.
I.E. it'll spawn a group of dogs, followed by spawning a group of bandits. Or a group of bandits followed by a group of wardens; blood suckers then bandits & wardens ect ect.
I've literally been staring at an open field and seen them spawn in right before my eyes in sequence. Spawning is absolutely broken.
I'm NOT complaining. FFS I've already put 20 hours in game and absolutely love it. But it is NOT the stalker AI experience I was anticipating. I sure hope A-Life 2.0 gets fixed and honors it's predecessor.
if not, here's to hoping the Modding community can implement A-Life 1.0 into S2 (I have faith).
Again, I'm NOT complaining. Just sayin it's clearly not the Stalker we were anticipating lol.
The beauty of Stalker is that if GSC can't/wont; the community will lol!
Because there is no A-Life implemented in the game. You cannot scan ahead for enemies and plan your trip across the zone. If you had binoculars you will be looking at an empty lifeless zone as there will be no A-life system populating the areas.
Yeah that makes sense. Bet the office is up in flames rushing to figure out how to fix that lol. I'm not sure how they thought we wouldn't notice this stuff?
I'm enjoying my time so far (I've literally spent 20 hours in JUST the lesser zone, across 3 different saves). But I'm not sure how they thought they could release Stalker 2 without the most critical components that make Stalker Stalker.
I've heard they're actively working to implement the real 2.0; which has apparently been confirmed by data miners to actually exist in the game.
We'll always have the originals and thank ♥♥♥♥ for that because I'll be honest, after reaching zaton, this game is raw dude. Visuals are inspired, the animation and sound teams clearly poured their hearts into it, but the gameplay the clunky as ♥♥♥♥ controls, the horrible balance, the fact they consistently put you against ♥♥♥♥ you're 100% not prepared for at all, with 0 direction or hinting as to where you should start looking for kit to make yourself so, meanwhile handholding you like you're an ignorant child with quest markers and yellow paint ( which you can't turn 100% off btw despite them saying you could ) it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ raw.
I'm going back to the originals and honestly trying to forget the game exists for a while I think. Really sad man, this has a lot of heart put into it, too bad none of it was the Zone's.
Bingo it would instantly show A-life 2.0 is their rebranded radial spawning.
The game is much larger and would benefit from binoculars much more, something in every single stalker game previously. The reason for it's omission is so incredibly obvious.
Because the game is a bit half-as5ed and developed with consoles ìn mind. Probably too taxing on a peasant box to include Alife.
Idk bouut all that. I haven't made it deep enough into the zone to attest for all that. I play with no HUD so the hand holding is irrelevant in my case.
98% of my hype for S2 wasn't to get the game, but for the modders to get the game. Given the circumstances, I honestly had low expectations for S2 in regards to the base game; but I knew once the Modding Community got a hold of the tools, they could fix/add whatever is missing and likely would.
I paid for the engine, not the experience (just my perspective). I have far more faith in the modding community than most any dev's these days.
Make no mistake, I'm still enjoying myself. I've already put nearly 20 hours in game and I the experience, while not STALKER; has still been enjoyable thus far.
That said. I've literally had Nexus Mods open since release and I refresh it hourly just to see what people are already coming up with.
