why dose it look weird with the upscale turned off
it's like someone forgot Anti-aliasing or something or it's broken

it's really noticeable when looking at the trees and other textures, like at night on the lit windows in zalissya and some of the shadows during the day

i'm playing on a 1080p monitor a ASUS ROG Strix XG258Q

upscale on VS off and 1440p VSR upscale off

AMD VSR 1440p
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ9_BnbKdug
a set of settings was turn on in AMD Adrenalin software under the Gaming tab and the game

Virtual Super Resolution: ON
radeon image sharpening: ON set to 50
Anti-Aliasing set to Enhance Application and set to Supersampling
texture filtering quality: set to high

i went and messed with my AMD drivers setting and set the Anti-aliasing to override at 8xEQ on supersampling and it still looked funky

so i went back and turned on Virtual Super Resolution and set it to 1440p with the 8xEQ set to supersampling and yeah my suspicions are correct ya need to run the game at a higher resolution, what a punch to the face for people who are on 1080p.

Game was built around upscaling and framegen. Nasty, isn't it?
Pain Nov 22, 2024 @ 12:03am
thats how happens when devs try to cheat using upscaling to cut corners. its also why the game runs like ♥♥♥♥
Pain Nov 22, 2024 @ 12:04am
the modern gaming curse is lazy devs who try to use upscaling to cut corners on engine coding.

yeah i don't like what the upscale dose, it adds a weird ghosting effect that mess's with my eyes bleh and with it off it's like a bunch of stuff is broken like it has no Anti-aliasing
mccluckers Nov 22, 2024 @ 12:09am
modern game devs think this is acceptable. they obscure the issue because the game runs so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that they think nobody will play without TAA or upscaling on

Thought it wes just me. Something else i've noticed, if you put the upscaling into "balanced" or "preformance" at all, the game will seemingly like "flicker" and let you see through walls every 30 seconds.. Enjoyed what i've played of the game so far but definitely seems to be a fair share of optimisation issues & bugs.
set anti aliasing to low and use nvidia control panel or adrenaline to override the games aliasing.

I have all settings low at 1080p no framegen or upscaling and it looks fine for the most part

that and people on 2160p won't notice it maybe on 1440p a little, it feels like the game needs to run on a higher rez screen or somthing i know at 2160p ya don't really need Anti-aliasing all that much.

i'll have to take a poke at that and see what happens.

Yeah I thought I was going to try to make the game look as good as I can by turning off the upscaler.

But when I did, everything is filled with small black dots lol.

yeah it looks bad but i updated my post and shared what i did and it looks way better now
Grimmsqueaker Nov 22, 2024 @ 1:03am
Yeah it has a weird sharp looking haze and fuzziness to it. When moving the camera around it was also going light and dark for me and all the hud elements were really faded and see through so you couldn’t see them
SilverX95 Nov 24, 2024 @ 9:53pm
i added some videos and submitted a report on there website about the problem
i don't think AA should just stop working when you turn off the upscale.
i know cyberpunk 2077 doesn't do this but that's a different game engine, but My point stands and i hope it gets looked at.
i shouldn't have to turn all that stuff on just to get to look better.

I would recommend using TAA or DLAA, since it gives you your native resolution and seems to smooth out the jagged edges. As others have said it seems AA just turns off completely when you turn upscaling off, so for the time being TAA/DLAA are not really upscaling and they sharpen your picture.
Myztkl©-Kev Nov 24, 2024 @ 9:59pm
i don't use upscaling and I don't have an issue. I am using DLAA though.
