Im thinking of getting a 9900k from a i5 - 8600k @5ghz
wondering if its worth it
Oh I have no doubt that it’s more complicated, I was just simply putting a possible solution for some one out there that it might work for as it basically fixed it for me. Also I had found said fix from a thread on Reddit that used a non 9900k as well, I can’t quite remember what it was. Either way they had said they set the cores from 57 to 54 and it solved it. So I applied the same logic of down clocking by 3 to my 9900k and it worked. It’s just an idea and it could be just a fluke for my setup that it worked out, all in all hopefully this works for somebody and hope every one has a happy holidays!
I like the way you think ;)
XD
When it comes to Stalker 2 I’d say I get okay performance, I run at 4K and get anywhere from 45fps when there’s a lot goin on to upwards of 80fps and that’s with DLSS set to balanced, Frame Generation turned on and most things set from medium to even epic textures. I have a 2080ti along side the 9900k at 5ghz (4.7 right now as per my post). But I would honestly say go with AMD if you can. There’s too many wonky things with gaming and this generation of Intel chipset. But if you’re gunna stick with Intel then yeah I’d recommend getting an i9 at least. You’ll definitely notice the difference in speed but especially when it comes to heat output too lol hot lil bugger. Make sure you’ve got a powerful enough PSU too just fyi. Any way happy holidays!
Well looks like ima get a 9900k if thats what youre getting in 4k lol, im not jumping sockets yet, especially when my current cpu has only just started to struggle and its the second chip in the line.
System is built for it for sure, 360mm aio with graphite pad, never breaks 55 with 1.375 on all cores 5ghz.
q4 this year its really shown its age with only 6c/6t.
Appreciate it!
Happy holidays
DO NOT get an i9 9900k !
Mine doesn't exceed 40 fps in Stalker 2 towns because of this game's CPU bottleneck, even though I have a 4070.
Save up and get a ryzen X3D CPU instead.
That's what I did, I installed the most powerful cpu I could put on my motherboard and it made a significant improvement for most of my games but the latest games (dragon dogma 2, stalker 2) are struggling with the i9=9900k. I'm running a mix of medium and high settings and I get 1080p 60fps most of the time.
edit: no crashing but I will try that on other games that I have that crash!
Yea sorry to break it to you, my config and personal tweaks I get 70-90 with 65 lows, hangs around 75 most of the time with max 7ms system response time unless going into a base. Mix of low medium and epic. DLAA and FSR3.
Everything is optimized and oc'ed af man, all I need are more cores/threads and then tweak that like this one. the chipset itself is fast enough. I had this one at 5.2ghz for a lil bit.
Have you tried this?
This does wonders to start with.

Gotcha. Its hard to gauge between set ups.
Out of curiosity, are you running out of spec in any ways?
Or is it a kinda parts in, power on, play build?
Cause I feel like you should def be getting more than that.
I honestly think its a case of game optimization for our gen, cause BodyCam runs at like 140 all the time maxed out and I just dont get it lol
