Stalker 2 on XBOX PC Gamepass does not recognize controller.
I have tried Xbox Controller and 8bitdo controller, neither are recognized. Every other game in Gamepass recognizes both. Anyone else have this problem?

Came here to inquire about the same thing. Very frustrating.

Yes, I have the same problem. What is strange for me is that the very first time I played the game my xbox controller worked but had horrible drifting. When I restarted the game the controller was no longer even recognized.

Give this a go:
Hopefully this is helpful for someone, I wasn't able to get my controller detected at all in the game, connected via BT Xbox one controller. Found a few references to the gameinput service on the steam discussion posts, tried rebooting at and bam, controller started working in the game.

Steps for those who want to try:

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.

Type services.msc and press Enter.

Scroll through the list to find the GameInput Service (there will be two, you can only restart one, I think it's the manual trigger one, the other will only have an option to start the service)

Right-click on GameInput Service.

Select Restart.

It doesn't work. But thank you. To be more specific, my controller does nothing at all. When steam is simultaneously open, my right stick will "look" and my triggers will zoom and fire but i'm sure its just the steam overlay because the moment i shut steam down...were back to nothing again.
i did play yesterday with controller, today not work anymore lol im ALSO on gamepass pc

This also worked for me, but strangely enough, it only works for as long as the game doesn't recognize my keyboard and mouse. Once it does, I have to alt tab out, and restart the service for it to work again.

steam input can conflict with Game pass games; :/ try closing steam when using the controller, or under controller settings, turn steam controller input off; during the time playing on xbox; ;?
the stick drift bug is going to be fixed this week - as per future patch notes

This helped me a lot. I noticed that while restarting the service the controller would work in game, until the service was actually started again then it would just keep drifting. so this led me to the conclusion that while the service is stopped my controller would work. so i just stop the service while in game, and voila, controller works perfectly. First game I ever had to do this, but your hint led me to the solution.

For reference, this was on a Flydigi vader 4 pro.
