So yes, they are "New vegas modders hate shotguns" garbage now with the price hikes and enemy health bloat.
No you did not need slugs. slugs were actually underpowered trash with less effectiveness against mutants anyways. and in fact so bad I ended up better off using buckshot even against exo-suits on replays.
Slugs for dealing with heavy armor blokes
and Buck for the light armor ones
They seem to work alright for me. At least on humens. On mutants? You generally have to use AP ammo on them, which is rare to find and expensive. So, might be easier to just super run away from the more high-threat muties I think.

So you're telling me you can suspend your disbelief when looking at a mutant whatever but you can't suspend it when that same mutant whatever does not die immediately when you shoot it with a shotgun?
