For many, Anomaly and GAMMA are what they experienced before base STALKER games. Either by playing it themselves, or watching it on Youtube. And even if not, there are those who think GAMMA and Anomaly improved on the base game in a lot of ways, and believe GSC should have been taking notes from said mods.
Not really saying they're right or wrong, but it was unavoidable.
So I can understand why so many are moaning.
Even then, they did give some nods and QoL from ANOMALY. Which was surprising.
we're day 2 into launch and devs are grinding to fix the current issues, they dont even have pointshop set up.
so honestly, the silence to me is the grind, odds are we'll get these features soon enough eventually.
anomaly and gamma should be the standard, what is good deserves to be the norm.
we deserve quality.
ANOMALY had great A-Life, but it had problems with balance. Humorously, the bad balance of ANOMALY seems to have appeared in 2, which I thought was hilarious
Own the original, never played it outside of like an hour when it first came out. Never played COP or CS, never did anomaly or gamma and my experience of this game is pretty simple to explain. "Mediocre." granted, this is "My" experience and yours might vary, but this is from an unbiased sightline. The AI is laughable, the resource management is non-existent due to the sheer amount you obtain. The repair cost on anything that isn't a named weapon is barely noticeable and of course the mutants are more of a nuisance than a terrifying presence.
After around 5 and a half hours on veteran difficulty, I finally stepped out of the lesser zone and went into the power plant district, only to be met with a bloodsucker that phased through a closed door, hit me and went back out the same door, but had to open it to leave. Quality isn't something I'd say this game is, in any shape or form, but it is passable.
GAMMA and EFP made the progression much slower.
To be fair, the original games's balance was also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in like tons of aspects. A lot of times you were instantly dead, until you get good armor and then you could pretty much bullrush enemies. When you got a decent weapon with AP rounds you could just clean sweep the rest of the game.
The problem with the resources, is that, the game literally feeds you resources by the bugged radial stopgate, they got going. Which is a part of the problem. Normally, you have to seek out resources in the OGs. Not so, in 2, instead you can wait, and the game will passively throw mobs at you.
Which breaks the economy somewhat.
