FPS++ GUIDE
Guide to Increasing FPS in "STALKER 2"
(UPDATE 21.11.2024)

The game runs inconsistently on all systems. Currently, we are waiting for a patch.

Step 1: Opening the Settings File

To apply performance-improving changes, you will need the "Engine.ini" file. Follow these steps:

1. Press the "WIN+R" key combination.

2. In the pop-up window, type "%appdata%" and press "Enter".

3. Navigate to the following path: "AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\Config\WinGDK".

3.1. The path may vary depending on the game version. For STEAM, the path will look like this: "AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\Config\Windows".

4. In the "WinGDK" folder, open the "Engine.ini" file using a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.

Step 2: Configuring Performance Settings

1. At the very end of the "Engine.ini" file, add the following block of settings:

[SystemSettings]
r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod=2
r.ContactShadows=0
r.Lumen.Reflections.Allow=0
r.MaterialQualityLevel=0
r.Nanite.MaxPixelsPerEdge=4
r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=0
r.ShadowQuality=0
r.VolumetricCloud=0
r.Volumetricfog=0

[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.GraphicsAdapter=0
r.TextureStreaming=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.BloomQuality=0
r.FilmGrain=0
r.DisableDistortion=1
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.Fog=0 r.OneFrameThreadLag=0

[/script/engine.gameengine]
DisplayGamma=2.056000
GlobalNetTravelCount=6
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
bViewAccelerationEnabled=False
bDisableMouseAcceleration=False

2. Save the changes and close the text editor.

Step 3: Adjusting Graphics (Lumen and Ray Tracing)

1. Locate the "GameUserSettings.ini" file in the same folder and open it with a text editor.

2. Add the following lines at the end of the file:

[SystemSettings]
r.RayTracing=False
r.RayTracing.Shadows=False
r.RayTracing.Reflections=False
r.RayTracing.AmbientOcclusion=False
r.RayTracing.GlobalIllumination=False
r.RayTracing.Lighting=False
r.RayTracing.Translucency=False
r.RayTracing.SkyLight=False
r.Lumen.Reflections=False
r.Lumen.Reflections.HardwareRayTracing=False
r.Lumen.Reflections.ScreenTraces=False
r.Lumen.GlobalIllumination=False
r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather=False
r.BloomQuality=0
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.PostProcessAAQuality=0
r.PostProcessAAQuality=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0
r.MaxAnisotropy=16

After applying these settings, the game may run significantly faster, but keep in mind:

- Visual artifacts may appear, such as incorrect shadows, lighting, or object rendering.
- Some scenes might look less realistic due to the disabled graphical effects.

The game is poorly optimized. Even with the latest generation of GPUs, it is challenging to play. It's better to wait for patches—don't ruin your impression of the game.

So basicly just disabling lot of effects. Most of these can be done ingame.

Not many, unfortunately. The settings in the game are flexible, no doubt, but still not enough.

Changing any configs or registry things would not be an option for me with a game that costs 60€, also not to play with 45 FPS like in your case, but everyone has to decide for themselves.

also downloads of any configfiles is something I generally avoid (should not be a reproach @TO bec everyone can adjust it manually if they want to). But I think it's great that you're try to helping people with your guide, therefore TU

Yes, that makes sense. It definitely shouldn't be this way. Thanks for your opinion.

Entirely depending on your rig and settings you use. Try FSR3 added 60 fps for me.
Running generally 120+ fps with high settings and FSR3 on 1080p resolution.

On my other rig its round 100 fps with 1440p

Both have 3080 and 5900X
