Did you really thought the guys living in the ZONE wouldn't be on their toes all the time, let alone see some 2m tall shmuck shadow crawling around? Stalker 2 did a greate job, with every other step i (player) accidently push some kind of rubble just to remind gamers that stealth is not really an option
If you want far cry baby mode stealth where you can kill people right next to each other and stand in front of someone and they can't see you because lmao I'm in a shadowy spot then maybe stalker is the wrong game for you
Until I got a quest that said I should do something "as quietly as possible". I just chuckled out loud to myself. "Bwaha, me and what stealth system?" They even gave me a pistol with a silencer.
And of course it turns out that going loud made no difference to the outcome. But I didn't even try to sneak up on them.
That's a good mentality to have when buying games, sigh.. "even though it's been almost two decades it's still perfectly acceptable to release and charge for a game with no gameplay improvements"
Stealth - enemies see you through walls.
A-life - freaking hordes of bloodsuckers on veteran difficulty (so welcome to stunlocks).
Difficulty settings - instead of making player more fragile as it was in previous games... Well, now zone is filled with bullet sponges so get ready to have no money for repairs because... Because you have to buy at least some ammo.
So everything is as expected. Stalker on launch is a buggy mess.
Like you could be 50 feet away from someone, you clearly see them plain as day, and you hit the crouch button and they're like "what? Did I just see a person? Oh well, back to walking my patrol route". That's "stealth" in the traditional video game sense, but it's also just kinda lame in my opinion.
... Like imagine you're sneaking into CIA headquarters or something and two CIA agents come down the hallways at an intersection. You crouch and lean up against the wall. One of them turns in your direction and goes "Huh, thought I just saw something. Oh well" and keeps walking.
Yeah sure man, try going outside at night and staring into the forest without a light or night vision and I am very sure you wouldn't see ♥♥♥♥ either especially not someone crouch walking slowly thats 100-150 meters deep in the forest. Also who tf is 2m tall when crouching around, I didn't know wer were playing a literal giant in this game.
...but how did you see them? This is what I'm talking about. In most "stealth" games you fly around in the shadows like sort of vampiric demi-god, silently snapping necks and disappearing before their buddy even has time to turn their head. I mean that's fun once or twice but the same formula over and over gets old. Every AC and Far Cry game, it's the same thing. Tip toe around the base snapping necks until 80% of the guards are dead.
How did I see them? they were standing at a corner under a light???
