Stealth is a bit... broken?
Stealth feels a bit broken and it's a shame, I like sneaking around and trying to quietly distract / take out enemies but this seems near impossible even on the lowest difficulty.

Enemies will spot you through objects like boxes or walls, I tried throwing a bolt to distract one of the enemies ( about 10-12 m away from me ) and he instantly knew exactly where I was sitting and alerted all the other. Even during the night while crouch walking through a forest enemies will spot you from a ridicolous distance without night vision or anything (yes I had my flashlight turned off)

...but how did you see them? This is what I'm talking about. In most "stealth" games you fly around in the shadows like sort of vampiric demi-god, silently snapping necks and disappearing before their buddy even has time to turn their head. I mean that's fun once or twice but the same formula over and over gets old. Every AC and Far Cry game, it's the same thing. Tip toe around the base snapping necks until 80% of the guards are dead.

Sehr passender Name übrigens muss man schon sagen

How did I see them? they were standing at a corner under a light???

You said there were no light sources in your hypothetical though.

I have no problem st4lthing in this game, its actually easier then in older games. Especially anomaly. That game had super broken combat AI that made most of the enemies wallhacking gods when alerted. this game is wayy more generous.

Go back and try it in older games, its way more tricky. if you get noticed and even one alerts, they all do.

I was crouch walking through a forest towards an enemy outpost, and the dude that saw me was standing at a corner under a light, I was still in the forest in the pitch dark, I don't know if you have ever been outside, because it does not seem like it, but usually you tend to see people that are standing under a light source better then they are at seeing you a few hundred meter out in the dark

in the old stalker games, bushes are your enemy. They can see through them and shoot you perfectly, but you could not. This was a huge problem in anomaly and one of the frustrating aspects of that free mod.

So yeah, you clearly have never played the old games, lmao

LOL bro, I live in a forest and yes you can see people sneaking up to you under a lamp post just like they can see you when you're walking towards them. My point was that I personally prefer when stealth is more realistic because the AC / Far Cry stealth system feels tired and dated at this point. Your argument is that you want the AI to go easy on you so you can live out a super power fantasy, like a bully simulator essentially.

The game now has a standard AI, from the Ureal Engine 5. It has not been finalized, in fact, for this reason the AI behaves very stupidly, it sees you when you get into its zone of action, this is not a bug and it cannot be fixed, the AI needs to be rewritten

No, but does it matter? Also no. Just because the old games were badly coded and the AI had bush ESP does not excuse that the next game over 10 years later is also badly coded.

Your argument is literaly "Have you not played the old games, their AI was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as well duh"

You have either have the reading comprehension of a 3 yo old or are plain ass lying, I was over 100 METERS away IN THE FOREST, not sneaking up directly behind him under the lmap post. And if you say you are able to spot somebody more than a hundred meter out in a dark forest while standing directly under a lamp post you are plainly lying m8

bro, stop having a "MUH realism" sperg out. I literally just explained how stealth works in the old games. as someone who played the older games, yeah, the janky stealth system is very much the same as it always was.

Enemies can see you through bushes due to how the AI detection is coded. Bushes dont hinder their detection.

And in older games, they could shoot you *THROUGH* the bushes perfectly while you couldnt see them. So many people played anomaly (the worst one with this problem) with the foliage off or low.

I don't want the AI to "go easy" on me I want them to not be able to see me through ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls or in places where its humanly impossible for them to see me without night vision / x ray vision, thats it

From what ive seen in the game. Enemies see you from the other side of the globe even if you crouch. The granade throws are awlays pinpoint to your locations. Theres no stealth at all.

should rename the game to shooter instead of stalker

a) One of the reasons hedgehogs are called hedgehogs is because of the amount of noise they make. You have five senses, not one.
b) If you were paying attention during the prologue the military became aware of the stalker before they attacked because they detected their PDA. It's a bit hard to be stealthy when you're carrying something that looks like the average firework display to anything capable of looking into the EM spectrum.

They weren't badly coded. They didn't really do stealth. That's not a bad thing, personally I've been advocating that the halfwits who insist on putting stealth (or even worse, arbitrary stealth sections) into games should be taken somewhere and shot since the original Thief came out. I'm here to play an FPS, not hide and seek.

a) Yes because you can hear someone from 100-150 meters away that is crouch walking in the forest and can tell exactly that it is a human, sure, you must have got some good ears buddy.

b) I was going to a scavanger camp, neither are they the military n'or are they able to see into the EM spectrum

All you're doing here is trying to excuse ♥♥♥♥♥♥ programming / AI with half assed lore explainations or real life comparissons that don't even make sense cause what you described in "a)" is not even possible IRL for the situation I was in game
