So did they just lie about A-Life?

I remember them talking about it constantly before release but as far as I can tell it's not in this game at all?

At least, not the A-Life of the previous Stalker games.

Seems they just did normal, traditional open world game AI and just... called it A-Life for some reason?

Am I missing something, is it bugged or like what's going on?

I'm hoping it's just bugged or something, the game's got alot of those right now so maybe something in the code is just a bit wonky

Might be cope but I remember Aliens Colonial Marines had an issue with its AI that was broken for YEARS until a modder figured out it was just one line of code that was bugged, fixed that and then the AI suddenly worked x3

I feel like they lied. I feel like they straight up scammed me really. I didn't pre-order til last week and I did so only because they mentioned the A-life 2.0 system in the product description of the Steam store page. I can't remember word for word how they described it, but it was supposed to be an improvement upon the original A-life system. That section has been removed from the store page completely now. Seems like it happened when they updated the store page to show off the fancy items in the differing editions of the game that you get when giving them more money. Priorities...

It really sucks as it was a core system to Stalker. The Zone just isn't the Zone without it.

I ain't buying this if there is no A-Life. Just gonna go back to open source stalkers like Anomaly or its other mod packs. I noticed from videos how bad Stalker 2 combat was, I just couldn't enjoy it by any means... looks trash so far with no depth, just same old good name & good graphics... basically reskin of random triple A game to Stalker... Also game did look like it was made for consoles... Strange design options, not gonna lie...

The mods in discord have said the system is working as intended but the radius in which things spawn in the system are not.

The problem here is increase the distance all you want. It still is not A-life. They've basically confirmed in the discord that their A-life 2.0 is literally radial spawning.

They replaced a-life with a-life 2.0 which is essentially a director system similar to left4dead 2..there is even files that kinda confirm this. Yeah we got scammed, When the developers specifically mentioned stuff would happen in the world in the background even where you are not...then change the description last minute. Right now there is literal evidence this is the case. Some are going to argue that it's just a bugged or that they will add it in later...there is no evidence for that but there is mounting evidence that the a-life system of old is completely absent from the game. It sucks and ive refunded this because 2 hours isn't a very generous refund window and after this disappointment i rather buy a different game and move on....will pick this up on sale later just to take in the visuals...

Kind of blows my mind that they were talking about it SO much in the pre-release stuff, I distinctly remember them making such a huge deal about a-life 2.0 and how the world exists without you and NPCs will have their own schedules and lives. Factions will change leadership dynamically as they kill each other etc etc, but it seems like none of that is in the game if what you're saying is true about the files >.<

Alot of people will play more than the 2 hour refund window before they realize there is no A-Life in this game so that's a silly take.

The combat is fun enough imo, but the selling point of Stalker games for me was the living, breathing world which doesn't seem to be there at all here :<

So complaining about a key feature of stalker the thing that gave it it's identity and was promised to be in the game only to be removed at the last minute a long with it's mentioning in the description is whining?

OK then so a dev can just walk back promises and lie about the inclusions of systems and we ahoils just accept it like good little sheep?

That would make alot of sense yea, given they had a 140gb PATCH on day one

It's very possible that they could've taken out the deeper AI systems until they figure out performance just to get it running well enough so people wouldn't downvote the game to oblivion or refund it immediately

But that might just be copium
