No, seriously, time to upgrade to the present, folks.
Its cheap, compared to pretty much all other PC parts; that and its super easy to install for novices.
I agree to also follow my original statement yet more and more games we run into that need more than 16GB, I am not sure game requirements take OS and background apps consumption in consideration therefore ,if you are borderline, requires 16GB does not mean 16 GB stick , it means it needs free 16 GB of memory ,if you total consumption with OS is more than 16GB then you don't have free 16 GB. With all of this being said 32 GB has kinda of become a standard for a gaming PC.

Windows will utilise more system memory if it's available to it. So to do this test properly you need to have only 16GB of memory physically installed in your system. I don't think it's worth the effort to open up your system and remove RAM sticks though, especially if that also ends up disabling dual channel performance.
Unhelpful advice, badly given. Bet you wonder why people don't like you when its obvious.
