Enough with this comparisons between Stalker game/s and Gamma.
Anomaly though, thats fair.
I feel like more people have forgotten that the original STALKER was very much a shooter with survival elements and not a RPG, survival or crafting game. If you only played the originals, you will find 2 being mostly the same game with better graphics, bit worse AI and as much roll-of-the-dice in whether it works on your PC.
you are not playing an immersive FPS anymore you are constantly fiddling with the inventory, it´s totally boring and off putting to the point you are no longer playing stalker you are playing stalker the inventory management game.
Anomaly is great if you simply want to experience the zone's massive map without a ton of things going on that makes the game super complex. Of course the graphics are dated and the mechanics are obtuse to say the least, but the game is relatively simple like the original series. You don't need to learn much to enjoy it as it is, and it is obviously FAR more stable and enjoyable than Stalker's 2 glitches and performance issues (if you have them, which I did)
GAMMA is a superior game for immersion, roleplay and experiencing the zone. Not only is it free, but you also get a ♥♥♥♥ ton of content that has been tested and balanced over years. However, it's truly an intense modpack. You will have to do a LOT of homework to figure out the crafting system, the economy, the weapon and armor system, the artifact melding and crafting. This is daunting for most players, let alone new ones. The sense of progression when you change weapons/armor is great though. That's without learning how the zone works by mostly trial and error. It looks decent but it's certainly not Stalker 2. The story content (Which is anomaly's) sucks and it's not the focus whatsoever. The goal is to make your own story in the zone.
Stalker 2 I think has the greatest zone/map by far. I just love looking at it and marveling at the distances and how the locations are laid out. Anomaly/Gamma downright feel claustrophobic by comparison. However, that also comes with downsides. Stalker 2's distances are ludicrous, and a LOT of gameplay time is basically traveling everywhere chugging energy drinks. Unlike many open-world games, where tons of interesting locations exist in between objectives, I feel like the opposite is true. Most POI/buildings/villages in Stalker 2 are empty and void of anything worthwhile to explore and find. The traders/quest givers also randomly stop giving you tasks if they assume you're too high level/high-gear for the region, meaning that you can't just stay somewhere on the map and chill, the game FORCES you to move to the late-game zones to have anything to do. The game's progression is honestly super ass. It is 100% tied to the main story and not your own personal progression, meaning that by the start everyone wears and uses garbage, but in the end-game everyone in the zone suddenly has Exoskeletons and advanced AR/Snipers/Shotguns. The game also showers you with super powerful items as you do the main quest, so you don't ever need to loot or search for your own gear. It's lame.
Tbh Stalker 2 is also a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying POS with inventory management. You're constantly fiddlign and tossing ♥♥♥♥ away because the weight limit is seriously low (unless you cheese), constantly unloading guns and tossing food and ammo around.
CoP alone is like 20-30 hours to play nearly 100%.
Stalker 2 requires like 40-60 hours to complete (Just the main story), of which like 10 hours is just walking to objective markers across the map.
Stalker GAMMA and Anomaly are heavily modded renditions of the original games so, I think comparing them equally is way off. You really have to compare apples to apples here, and if you do that - its likely you will believe Stalker 2 is definitely an upgrade from the original games.
true but have you played anomaly based mods or just anomaly?
it´s 100 times worse and the crafting system is total madness you need this and that to craft repair a thing but only if you have this and that rare item and you need this and that special trader... there are 1000 more items, 1000 different ammo type, it´s all bloated to the max it´s just a big headache to try and manage half of it, it´s just a pointless chore.
