At this point it's really no contest. The AI in GAMMA staggers when you centerpunch them with a rifle, for one thing. For another, the gunplay is slower and more deliberate and Call of Pripyat's soundscape was on point.
Visually, Stalker 2's Zone is amazing, but I've already lost my patience with enemies in what looks like classic Bandit garb facetanking entire magazines of 5.45 and 5.56 at very close range. That said, with some patches (perhaps fixing the way that enemies more than ten meters away t-pose at you angrily instead of animating) and tweaks, there's at least the potential to be...well, maybe only as good as. GAMMA really is pretty fantastic, after all.
Still, my first thought when I fired it up was something along the lines of, 'sweet sheep, it's a higher budget, less jank Stalker...'
Things could be different later down the line when stalker 2 is properly patched.
Yes, to be honest ,a game of such magnitude to be released in 2024 , I was expecting a much better AI. Faken enemy moves like in Soldier of FOrtune released 24 years ago.
If you like the vibe buy Stalker 2 IMO. Stalker 2 is much more forgiving and enjoyable. up the road there'll be mods etc
Yes but you can still add additional mods.
Edit: Before you guys start saying "yOu dOnT eVeN oWn tHe gAmE" I had a brain and got it for $40 cheaper on game pass.
I guess almost ten years of development and decade of experience can only do so much when this is all they're capable of.
The only thing this game got over Gamma was visual and animation plus an actual story set piece, thing modders could just take and make a much better game upon.
Hell, this is just like Skyrim lol.
Comparing a modded game to vanilla game is wierd.
Modding is not the same as creating a full game from almost scratch.
Competition wise it is an unfair contest that you guys are arguing about.
GAMMA.
Stalker 2 has been out a day.
GAMMA is built on 4x as many peoples work across 17 years.
Kinda a goofy comparison tbh.
