All things considred, Gamma is better. But Stalker 2 is streamlined
As the title says, The game is good but it seems like they under saturated some things to fit a bigger dumber audience.

I've been playing Stalker Anomaly with every type of mod, and it seems to be more of the Stalker series spirit. Granted stalker 2 is Stalker 2, the OGs.

I was expecting a bit more, specifically with the graphics. it seems like reshade and 4k mods for Stalker anomaly make it look better then Stalker 2. That said i know reshadess and hopefully mods come soon/

But man; i expected more like faction wars more integrated stuff like that.

STALKER 2 is at least much more complex than Cod with the anomaly/armor/weapon management.

I've been playing on the hardest difficulty and tightly managing ammo and resources at the traders

so you compare the development time it took to create all 3 previous games 10+ years of community mod development to a vanila game ?

wow

your opinion is trash dude please stop posting on internet

Anomaly and GAMMA might not have the same gameplay as the originals, but they absolutely have the same feel in my opinion.

Now in most things, it would be stupid to compare Anomaly and Stalker 2, but one thing you can compare is the ai and its a-life system, and the sad truth is that right now the ai is trash in Stalker 2 and the a-life system is non existent, while a modded version in this franchise have expanded and improved the same system.

When the ai worked in the originals it was truly great and one of my favorite ai to fight against, in Stalker 2 enemies have no personality and is like playing every other open world fps games.

No. Gamma is a great mod, don't get the wrong. But it isn't actually what stalker is.
Nero Nov 26, 2024 @ 6:56pm
Honestly most mods except for COMPLETE I do not like because they are about wasting your time and anomaly has no bandages yet you constantly bleed from everything and misery you can't even repair a helmet after selling 3 artifacts lol.

Economy balance of Gamma may be ♥♥♥♥ for me, but all those map/A-life improvement from Anomaly and addition survival mechanics from variuos mods that Gamma put together are pretty neat and make it the best Stalker life sim I've ever got. (after you adjust all those economy "rebalance")

Something this game just fumbled hard, so it's just a lifeless and empty zone.

the experience between them are closer than people think. People talk like anomaly is a totally diffrent game while it actually is just stalker with more stuff.

this turned hot quick, to be honest i downloaded anomaly in the lead up to stalker 2 ( i didnt play gamma this last play ) used different mods. It feels like its a more authentic stalker experience. Stalker 2 is good granted im only 2 hours in,

in 2 hours of anomonly i'd be dead and scum saving lol. So i get it that they made it more friendly. But it kinda undermines the whole thing to a degree, and it lacks some mechanics
Anomaly especially gamma aren’t authentic stalker experiences they are extremely different then the actual games please for the love of god actually play the original games before saying stuff like this stalker 2 is actually pretty similar to them the stalker franchise isn’t a dayz esc survival game

Love the OG trilogy from the first time I played on SoC release. Played all the respectable mods or overhauls including Anomaly which is great since it is much closer to the original feeling and Gamma which is respectable but is far apart from the original feeling.

Problem with Stalker 2 isn't that it was released with bugs which veterans would be unrealistic not to expect.

Problem is that it released without the corner stones of what makes Stalker, Stalker.

Ok let's say A life was an unpredicted problem due to console optimization and the spawn around the player radius.

Let's also say that faction wars should be expected later. Still we should be able to join a faction and have more faction quests and have a working reputation system in which our actions would affect faction resections towards us.

Releasing without NVG is pure laziness and total disrespect towards the veterans that supported this all the way. Is like Doom without super shotgun.

So I can understand many likewise threads that pinpoint these things and say that Anomaly or even Gamma feels better.
firstly, it's 'than' not then

secondly, I do agree that there has been a shift, but only in the engine. However, this has basically made A-life impossible to work, which is why they've had to call it A-life 2.0 (which is basically 50 yard spawn-♥♥♥♥-fest with NOTHING happening anywhere else in the map)

I do have to pick an issue with you though on your comparison between an x-ray engine modded stand alone vs Unreal 5 with AAA elements

(granted, I agree with you on the streamlining, it's pretty stripped out, what with absolutely NO keybindings? Perhaps mods might fix a few things in time, then we might be able to make comparisons).

I wish people would stop comparing this game to GAMMA
People seem to completely miss the point of GAMMA. I'm not a huge fan, but I totally agree with Grok on this:
"It can totally appear daunting but it's actually very simple. It's just that guns are gated behind the toolkits progress which enforces the player to do tasks and venture in harder maps to get better tools and to repair the gear he finds. Without such a system, you'll end up with the base Anomaly progression where you farm the easiest and least dangerous maps for 20h and buy an exo to finally start the story.... without any fear of anything because you are already a walking tank backed up with 800 high caliber rounds killing anything in 2 shots." (c) - Grok

There might be a better way to fix vanilla-derived absurd progression, but after a bit of thinking I honestly have no idea how one would go about doing that. It's a very complicated instance of game-balancing. You just gotta tweak the modpack a bit, streamline it to your liking where necessary (you can even enable guns being sold again), and enjoy it the way you want. After all, first "M" of "GAMMA" stands for "modular".

It's greed and it takes over all industries. Things start with people passionate about their work doing unique and awesome stuff. Usually they have passion and skill. Then money rolls in and the $$$ starts taking over everyone's desires. To get more money you make slop for the masses. Marketing and sales take over. Skilled and passionate people either are relegated, converted or just leave.

But it's a short term deal... it's a shot in the foot. You make loads of money short term but you deliver mediocre results that will washout and be forgoten in time.

That's why mainstream games suck ass. Why mainstream cinema sucks ass. Why mainstream anything sucks ass. It's all flashy visuals but no substance. It appeals to the common denominator and the result is generic slop instead of something crafted, unique and memorable...

Stalker is, sadly, dead now. We had high hopes but GSC jumped on the money train.
RiP Zone.

Long live indies.
I fully agree with you.

I just started playing Gamma and getting into it after trying a couple years back. I massively enjoy it over Stalker 2. Granted the toolkits and repair system is offputting at first.
Anomaly is a mod that took a decade to make. If you want Anomaly 2, come back in 10 years.

Then let's compare mods; because guess what? GSC GameWorld doesn't make mods.
