Combat sucks.
grenades are worthless, enemys dodge them with ease.. you cant even "cook" them to my knowledge.. maybe there is impacts? But i havent seen those yet. Bullets from enemys go through obstacles including metal and wood.. wood is more understandable.. All enemy's are practically faster than you, so reloading in a fight is a no go.. theyre also bullet sponges if not humans.. every single attack does bleed damage so you have to wrap up AND stim to not die while running and getting shot behind cover or being outrunned and smacked just as soon as you heal..

Fps is fine, but it feels disconnected and floaty. But hey you enjoy the game while lying to yourself. Skill tissues galore, the game is a 40-dollar Early Access game that you paid 100 bucks for. I got it for free through gamepass, maybe in a year it will be a lot better, I'll get the ult edition for 40 bucks. Sunken cost fallacy won't allow you to be critical. I get it. But the game is mid. Period.

IDK what these clowns are talking about. Combat straight up sucks in this game. So much of the game never evolved from the original. Can't slide, can't pull yourself up, there's no hit confirmation, enemies don't respond to getting hit, Stealth doesn't even exist, going melee mid fight feels really bad, and in general the gunplay doesn't feel good.

This isn't even touching on how every character seems to use the same base model, the game is a buggy mess, or the performance issues. I'm glad this game was on Gamepass cuz it's been a pretty big disappointment so far. It's a STALKER game where stealth doesn't work!
can't slide??? do you want to wall run as well and have jetpacks perchance

People too used to CoD. lol... You can't expect them to love the "less is more", when Activision has been throwing movement mechanics at them non-stop. People like us who played the original Stalker know. We appreciate the simpler nature of things.

To me it feels way too arcadey, like it was made for consoles first and given to pc players 2nd. I'm on hardest difficultly. I've played all the original games, all the mods as well(autumn aurora, stalker soup, misery, anomaly, gamma) and going from gamma gunplay to this feels really bad.

Everything is a bullet sponge and not in a good way.

Think I've just been spoiled by mods.
its new release so maybe things will get better with a few updates but having played the metro series.. this does not hold a single candle to it.. you have every literaly same concept here as you do in the later metro games.. except its more in depth and you have to change AIR FILTERS, WIPE UR VISOR, CHARGE UR LIGHT.. this game feels like it has no soul.. just a re-hasing of titles past.

Metro is also linear af. So, no. You're barking up the wrong tree here. This has multiple paths. Multiple endings. Freedom to explore just about everywhere. No two experiences are the same. We could go to the same marker at the same time and you'd fight mutants while I fight a bunch of bandits.

That you can't appreciate it is beyond me, but you're entitled to your opinion. Even if it's wrong.

I played the original STALKER too, I also played the original DOOM. Doesn't mean I'm eager to play an FPS where you can't look up or down. What a weird thing to have a superiority complex about. Grow up.

they need a massive bar that fills up above the enemies when they are about to get spotted, and i thought the massive compass at the top of the screen was to please the more casual players but these people really do need yellow paint everywhere to do anything in games

You can turn the yellow paint off. I did. Also turned off my reticle, because I don't need it. Immersion ftw baby!

"games liner" "games free-roam" "totally different" so what ur saying is.. open world exploration games get a free pass to be "worse" than other titles because i can go to where i want when i want? I fight mutants in metro too, but theyre actually fun. There is no excuse for a game thats been in development this long to be so generic. No i dont expect dashing vaulting and things like that. But among my many years playing video games i can safely say there is quite literally nothing special about this game other than the name alone.. ITS an OK title and id challenge you to play other games outside of this with the same or similar premise and tell me how they arent better.

Alright then boyo, YOU go make a game during a war, lose a bunch of people and see how well YOU do.

It's not that the game gets a pass. It's STALKER. We KNOW what we're getting into. It doesn't need to have a billion flashy or fancy mechanics. It's functional, it has the elements we expect, and you die to just about anything. You call it generic, we call it classic. And if you want to talk "generic", METRO was generic as hell. So don't even start. I've played Metro. The mutant AI in that is no better or worse. Most of the ground-based enemies run at you like lemmings in Metro games. Here, they hunt. Stealth tactics, pack tactics. Shoot n scoots from soldiers and bandits. They toss nades to force you out of cover.

Generic... Pffff... wouldn't know generic if it lobbed a brick at you.

Try the "Optimized Tweaks" mod that's up on the Nexus Mods site. Honestly made the game waaay smoother in my experience.

I snuck up on 2 guys and unloaded 3-5 rounds in his back, not only did he not die he did a snap turn around and sprinted at me like the flash, people say buildings break LOS but multiple times they just zero in on me like they know exactly where i am.
LunarGatta Nov 20, 2024 @ 7:18pm
Skill issue.

I just killed 4 mercs using a grenade, 1 tapped 3 others in the head, and magdumped into the body of another 4.

I got shot 6 times, 2 applied bleeding which was extremely easily fixed.

This entire thread is a literal skill issue, combat is fine.
🎀Hara🎀 Nov 20, 2024 @ 7:19pm
i mean combat feels just as good as the other stalker games, and that's great.

it was never promising to have super realistic milsim shooting.
it was never promising to have fast paced arcade shooting.

it was promising to be a stalker game with combat that feels like a stalker game, and that's exactly what it did.

except maybe the first stalker game, combat in that game really did suck.
