Insane random frame drops? *solved (kinda)*
Anyone else getting this: Everything is fine and the game is running at 80+ fps and then out of nowhere it drops to around 10 or less and immediately becomes unplayable regardless of where I am or what Im doing until I restart the game. It happens fairly often at this point and its the only thing keeping me from really sinking some hours into the game. Im guessing Im just gonna have to wait until they put out some patches but if anyone knows what could be causing this I wouldnt say no to a quicker solution.

Edit: The solution for me was to disable frame generation. I downloaded all sorts of performance patches from the nexus and tried Nvidia frame gen rather than fsr but was still getting it until someone said disabling it all together worked and now I've been playing for about a hour and a half and the only time my frames really dip is when Im in a town but thats only to around 30 rather than 5. Kinda a bummer bc with framegen I was getting around 80 fps while walking around and now Im down to 50 or so but thats still not bad at all and Im just happy I can play the game. Hopefully they patch this issue in the future.

Another unrelated tip to help things like aiming/looking around feel a little bit more responsive is doing this: go to your main drive/users/your_username/AppData/local/Stalker2/saved/config/windows/input.ini and copy/paste the following:

[/script/engine.inputsettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
bViewAccelerationEnabled=False

If you dont see your AppData folder then you dont have hidden folders showing in windows. To do that go to the top of the explorer tab where you should see File/Home/Share/View and then click View and make sure the Hidden Items is checked.

That part was courtesy of Cheeki Breeki on Youtube who has a whole video on optimization for the game that might help further increase performance on lower end systems.

The game feels quite heavy for my current PC, but there have been no frame drops so far. However, when I loaded my game for the fifth time in the same spot (after the bad guys killed me over and over again), the game lagged and became a sluggish fest with about 10 fps and bad latency, so I quit for today.

Well that at least gives me some hope that its not just the game delivering the knockout punch to my 3070 and 5600X.

3080TI, 12900k, 32 GB DDR5, WIN11. Runs 100-120 on EPIC for me. (DLSS Quality and FSR enabled). Not a single frame drop so far

I can't be 100% sure, but I have a theory that it has something to do with Lumen. Because if I set the global illumination settings to medium from high, it starts to happen much less

same problem

Try changing the hair settings to medium. It sounds weird but it solved the issue for me. I couldn't even reproduce the issue though and I was able to set it back to epic quality without FPS loss.

the only fps drop I gotten is when im facing a NPC that have a dialogue, trader, tech any npc quest related that have something to say. otherwise the fps are stable in the 50-60 fps without dlss.

I think it's a memory leak. When it happens I restart the game and it's fine.

You were right, its the global illumination. Once I put it to medium, issue was resolved. Anyways if it occurs again I can just set high then to medium to resolve it. I would actually recommend fps gen on as with global illumination on medium this issue wont be occurring so often.
