Am I stupid? I cannot find the artifact in the anomoly field.

I have the scanner, it's equipped, it's beeping. I've searched around every green slime spot, I've searched around the big barrel. I feel like I've searched the entire anomaly field but I'm getting no option to pick up an artifact.

Am I stupid? Is there some step I'm missing?

It was near the one to the left side of the barrel in the middle of the green slime. Stop near the left side of the barrel thingy in the middle and it will show up.

You don't need to search the whole field. You just need to get on top of it using the detector light, it will appear once you are there and you will able to pick it up.

I had the same issue, try validating file integrity and start a new run (delete the old save, you are in the prologue so no big deal), that fixed it for me

It just magically appears near the barrel as you run around.

I had the same issue: it's a bug. I searched the field and the thing didn't appear; I saved and reloaded, it didn't help. I restarted the game, reloaded the same save, followed the detector into the field and the artifact appeared. I didn't need to revalidate the files or anything.

It's a bit janky. The second anomaly field I ran into had the artifact not appear until I reloaded an autosave.

Yes, it's a bug. Unless restarting the game was part of the intended design.

Artefacts have always been buggy in STALKER games. I remember they'd sometimes float into the air and not come down, or even fall outside the entire anomaly field itself. I remember this used to happen in Call of Pripyat so often that I would always just have the detector out when running around. Sometimes they'd also just not let you pick them up despite the icon appearing unless you moved to a certain angle, or they'd just fall right into the middle of a giant anomaly you couldn't enter and then stubbornly refuse to move.

So apparently I heard that Low Graphics can cause artifacts to not show in front of you. I set my Graphics to High during that mission and now the artifact appeared right in front of me

currently in front of a tank, my tracker beeps like crazy when standing on it but i get mad radiation. I don't see anything to pick up or grab. I am so damn confused...

ok so i guess the artifact is the slug thing that only pops up with the little yellow scanner in your radial menu and you have to equip it once you collect it. didn't make any sense when i picked it up the first time since nothing happened. so guess that was a bug
