Compiling shaders every time?
It is normal when compiling shaders every time you start the game??

My system is all updated. Tweaked for performance. I built it myself it runs like a dream. Even Arma 3 gets good frames. I get good frames on this new Stalker too. It's just starting the game is painfully slow.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe check if other Gamepass or Microsoft store users have the same issue? Might be that build of the game?

Hope you find a fix.

UE5 is a funny thing :)

Many UE5 games have this. As example The Finals.

The GPU Device IR stays the same when you re-run compilation for shaders, don't believe me, try it yourself. I'm serious.

This isn't a particularly hard thing to cache for from a developer POV, because you can keep a metadata information containing the GPU Driver Version, Game Version, and Hardware Configuration on your PC and simply cache the shaders ties to those metadata.

The game is very unfinished. The developers are neglected to place many rendering occlusion planes so there are a LOT of polygons being rendered all the time that the player will never see. And that is just the tip of the iceberg... the game is clearly unfinished and needed another 6 months minimum. I'm on the fence as to no I should refund or not. It's a bit of a turd.

Thanks mate. I'm going to install some beta graphics drivers. If that doesn't fix it, I'll just have to be patient for a patch or the next driver set from AMD.

Oh cr*p, thats true?
It took about 5 minutes my 1st run. Playing on Epic settings.
Hoped this was as a one time occasion.
Hogwarts works the same btw, its annoying but I'll live.....

Annoying but understandable.

My pc must be garbage. It took 30 mins for the first compile and it takes 20 mins everything since. Plus everything I pull up my saved game it takes 45 sec to a minute to fully load. F my life!

From Stalker's website:

Note: Installing a new driver will delete the cache; you may experience game play stutters the first time you run a game after installing a driver.

I increased Shader Cache to 10G, then after logging out I updated the drivers, now waiting again for the shader cache to load up. Hopefully the 3rd time I load the game it won't take so long.
I wouldn't mind except it takes 15 minutes every time. And my game has crashed 2 minutes after i get into the map. Every time. Troubleshooting this game is horrible

This hasn't been my experience at all. The shader comp takes 30 seconds max. Haven't had a single crash yet. But that's not to discredit your issues. More that PC gaming has to account for such a vast number of different variables. Its impossible for them to ever test for that.

Wonder if it just has an issue with specific hardware / hardware? Driver versions?
What version of Windows are you on?
What software is running in the BG? Do you have third party anti-virus?

So this is how I do it: start the game and take a good long ♥♥♥♥ and then the ♥♥♥♥ will hit the fan just in time.

5min is that problem? i load 2-3-4-5th time and it takes for me 35mins xD just got a game crash and guess what I have to wait another 35mins :D 32gb ram chatche 100G all good all good...
doscomputer Nov 21, 2024 @ 2:03pm
yeah there is something seriously wrong with how long the shader compile time is, takes me 15 minutes to load in with a 5800x3d, 6900xt, 64gb 3600 cl16, and a sn850 1tb.

Im pretty sure the devs are just running a crypto miner on my PC because no other UE5 game takes this long

How long first comipation should be?
I waited already 1.5 hour...
