How is the optimization
Is this game really poorly optimized?

It runs very well for me but I also have a 7800X3D and 7900XTX so, don't think I really have average specs to be able to say

Most setups will massively struggle with this at the moment, unfortunately. A quick check over the negative steam reviews will reveal 15 minute start up times, massive stutters, and even notable fps drops on reasonably high tier rigs.

It's not the best, but nearly not as bad as people say. I have a laptop 4060 and I'm able to run high settings on 1080p seamlessly

Reason why I'm not buying

It could use some work. I am on a 4060ti and things weren't too bad, but holy crap when it started raining.... that did take a performance hit. Gonna fiddle a bit with some of the settings to see if i can alleviate that bit

So there's lucky people whom doesn't have poor optimization.

My setup: R5 3600, GTX 1660 Super, 16GB RAM
Settings: Medium preset, 1080p, FSR3 Frame Gen, Xess Ultra Quality+
Result: 65 FPS (Prologue)

Note: Shader compilation 1st time takes about 10 minutes, after that about 1 minute.

The game runs well currently as long as frame gen is turned off. Otherwise I found a memory leak with DLSS 3 frame gen turned on after about 5-10 minutes of play.

Installing on my ancient i-5 with 1060 just to see if it will run. I expect the slideshow to be glorious if it will work at all.
5800x, 2080super, 32gb ram at 4ghz, games on a m2:

running high texture, everything else medium, amd frame gen, quality dlss -> average 80fps on 1440p. seems fine to me right now, there are drops here and there especially after or before a cutscene but that something that gonna get fixed i guess

Technical performance is sketchy. You can luck out and get decent performance but the game is not smooth. There are big FPS drops in random areas, massive performance drops in hub areas with lots of NPCs, occasional stutter as you move around and issues with audio.

I run the game at 1440p, high settings and DLSS at Quality. The game runs from 60 to 100 FPS most of the time but there are some hubs, e.g. Zalessia, where FPS can drop as low as 45. My rig is: i9 12900KF, RTX 3080ti, 32GB DDR5 RAM, NVMe SSD, Win11 and still using old drivers (will install latest one tomorrow). Even if the game runs at 60+ FPS, it is not completely smooth experience. The game feels jittery.

These issues are not the end of the world and the game is playable. I would love to have more stable FPS but I'm worried that even if I fiddle with settings a lot, the game will not be smooth until several performance patches land.
