Working fix for xbox controllers not working

This is going to sound really stupid but it works. Make sure steam input isn't on. Start game as normal. Let shaders load. Make sure controller is OFF until this point. Turn ON controller at MAIN MENU. Plug it in via USB/USBC. Inputs should now read and analogue should now work. Doesn't work with blue tooth atm. Keep your controller plugged in. if you have connection issues due to wire being finnicky, I suggest using KB+M until a fix comes along.

This works better than the KB+M Template. This is full controller with aim assist and prompts.

Yeah, with a xbox controller (blue tooth) for some reason my fps was dipping to 35-40s + analog drift after playing for a few minutes. Switched to KB+M and I'm back to 60-55.

(for the record, my controller is brand new and it doesn't happen in other games)
