What a horrible disappointment :(
Why does this happen? Again - this game is based on faulty unreal engine. It has serious issues and I still wonder why devs are so stuck to unreal in 2024. I have a serious rig. Meaning a really good pc.
14900K [patched, not faulty] 4090K, 64gigs of 6800 low latency ram nad a 5gen Crucial t700 4gb ssd drive.
And of course like all latest UE games it stutters. Silent Hill 2 remake has the same issues reported by players.
It has been documented that UE is the snowflake of engines. It crashes a lot, it needs special treatment and still performs like a snowflake princess.
DEVS - STOP USING THIS crap engine. Just stop. While all games work fine Unreal needs to have issues. I know it's too late. I know this game has to flop and I am so sorry.

Other issues:
Controller is NOT working, needs a fix. Steam inpur or not - it just does not respond. Interface recognizes controller [shows press A to start etc] but does not work.

Gameplay and graphics:
Game looks like a remaster of the 2007 game. Really. It just looks like an old game that just got remastered.
Textures at everything maxxed out look like crap. Foliage looks dated. WHAT the actual HELL are you doing GCS? I Was waiting for this game for so long.

I am really emotional at this moment. I was about to refund but I need to sleep on it. Probably will refund in the morning.

What a shame.... what a horrible shame.

EDIT:
*refunded*. I can't do any other UE5 game that is horribly broken on launch. I needed this lesson and will take a large detour from UE5 games.

Refunded it after 50 minutes.

Download an optimisation mod. I was struggling to get 60fps on medium settings with a 3060ti and a 14700k cpu, but now it absolutely breezes 120fps at medium/high

You litterally have the maximum graphics settings on and are wondering why it doesn't work?

Which one did you use? Did it fix the lighting?
I recommend this one, because the default engine.ini is blank compared to this,

GTX 1070 running the game on EPIC: :)

Game is beautiful on all EPIC settings. I'm getting 90-120 maxed out. 9900K and 4080. I'm also playing on 5120x1440 ultrawide.

Environment is spectacular, game is everything I dreamed of and more. Its dark, its creepy, its brutal. I love it.

That sounds like insanely good performance. That resolution alone is demanding but with EPIC settings... wow.

doubt it to be honest

should have done the same…played 9 hours cause I was optimistic. The military base was when I stopped.

No it's your typical intel and nvidia combo broken. I have powerfull AMD full rig and zero crashes and fps drop's. Stop buying overrated hardware and then you can have joy in gaming,
DazTroyer 23 NOV 2024 a las 7:06
7800x3d, 4070ti and 32gb ram with no stutters apart from small one entering town, like half a second.

I've no idea what your issue is but with that set up you should be golden.
Prem 23 NOV 2024 a las 7:24
I'm sorry to tell you this, but the newest models of intel CPUs and Super cards from Nvidia have issues with Unreal Engine, speaking from experience as my friend (i7-14700k, 32GB and 4070s) crashes and has problems with any UE5 game where as I (i7-8700, 32GB, 2070) have none, even this game runs at a stable 60fps, 1080p, medium settings
Prem 23 NOV 2024 a las 7:25
I fixed some of his issues by helping him update his BIOS and everything seems better, he was running an ASUS motherboard, dont know the name of the top of my head, hope this helps anyone who comes here
DaleGribble 23 NOV 2024 a las 7:31
Yet another reason not to buy UE5 games lmao

Meanwhile it compiles shaders every time like a 1995 game. Uninstalled and refunded, way too many good games new and old to deal with this trash. Check back in in 6 months - 12 months and wait for heavy sale. Per the norm for 95% of AAA games since patching became a thing.
Flanker1Six 23 NOV 2024 a las 7:34
Game looks great on Epic GFX (DOF and MB turned off). Averaging 110-125 FPS, no stutters so far. On an overrated Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU! .)

Slava Ukraini. But not in game development.

Are you sure you have the most recent microcode from the BIOS update that actually fixed the issue and not one of the 2 prior updates? The real fix was just released maybe 2-3 weeks ago.
Doesnt fix it, still crshes whenever it wants

Epic settings on a 9900k and a RTX 4080 @1440p.

I do not use DLSS or Frame Generation as I'm forcing my GPU to do the work and not my ageing CPU.

Towns are around 50-60fps with countryside 80-120fps.

I also get some stutters but coming from EFT I'm used to it. 1 crash so far. Are you playing the game on your install drive or another? Try adding Page File to the drive that you have the game installed even if you have a ton of ram.

Maybe it's even a new Gen thing as I've seen a few posts with people running similar set ups to me with little problems.

Paging file must be controlled by you since the start of time, it's windows defaults that are as low as 16MB< when not under custom rules; :) that's the fault in the stars.

otherwise, the nexusmods saves this game, for fixing stability and performance all around,
go look at your engine.ini and see how blank it is; %localappdata% stalker2 /saved/config /WinGDK sometimes engine.ini doesn't even exist ;:) game pass had like 2 UE commands; :/
