SoC was jarring, disjointed, weird and absolutely captivating.
If you're in doubt, SoC and BS are still available to grab all over the place at decent price.
Stalker 2 developer GSC went through hell and high water to develop the sequel over nearly 15 years. They will surely try to improve on massive legacy their original games carry. If nothing else, Stalker 2 is a promise of great single-player post-apocalyptic FPS that will be atmospheric and challenging.
- ambient sounds and music
- absolute no hand holding coupled with semi-milsim gunplay
- awesome and unique world and lore
- A-Life which was groundbreaking at the time, can be here
- they dont do games like this anymore
- wonder of exploration
- survival horror elements which can scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of you
I've been playing STALKER on and off since the first release, and i truly hope HOC captures the essence of what made its predecessors such great experiences(Yes, even clear skies, it was my favorite).
At the end of the day, if you are unsure, just wait and look at some gameplay, and you can always try it out and refund if you dont like.

So everyone has nothing but to do conjectures about the state of Stalker 2.
Trailers tends to be misleading and glorify elements (it won't be the same product), as well it has to ignore many other elements, it is impossible to include everything the game has on a trailer.
anomalies
artifact hunting
actual shooter vs taking 10 shots to kill the player
atmosphere
Being able to play at your own pace, exploring the world instead of being forced to blast everything put in front of you in a linear zone
So much this.
Chernobylite got sort of there but still nowhere near.
