S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl was ahead of it's time
While many didn't like it/play it back in the day, along with the rest of the series that was considered very niche, it's influence and popularity started to rise throughout the coming years.

First major title trying to pull off similar things was Far Cry 2, most notably it had the diamond tracker, which was very reminiscent of STALKER's detector.

The GSC studio closed, trying to deliver STALKER 2, 12 years ago, while it's community spawned many great mods, some still being updated with new ones coming out to this day, keeping the STALKER's name relevant.

Led by it's influence, more games came out hoping to capture it's unique vibe; the Metro series, Escape from Tarkov, Chernobylite, Into the Radius, Survarium etc.

100% agreed. No other game franchise has captured what the original STALKER games did back in the day. Even Metro while great was far too scripted and linear, and the only thing it had in common was the setting and the survival horror aspects.

If STALKER 2 recaptures what made the original 3 so good, its going to be a very good next couple of weeks/months ;)

My thoughts exactly. I really hope with STALKER 2 coming, more games start to implement even more of it's ideas, such as A-Life.

From the footage we've seen thus far, I have very little to no doubt, it will deliver what we've being waiting for so long.

Stalker ahead of its time?

SoC released in 2007, the same year as the first Crysis.

Did SoC even have a detector?
I thought this was added in Clear Sky?

So many great memories. Just about uncovering a rare artifact in a hazardous area with barely any life left only to be chopped down seconds later by a random mutant lurking. Ahhh, good times.

Crysis was the best looking game, but only in terms of visual fidelity was ahead of it's time.

Yes, it was present in the code and a part of cut content in singleplayer, but you were able to buy it in multiplayer.
