I saw somewhere that the map is the same size as Pubg but Pubg is like 40GB.
That's like 3-4 times the details or some real ♥♥♥♥ optimization here.
Not to mention PUBG doesn't have any quests, AI, scripts, etc. It's rng based loot on a mostly empty map designed for pvp.
(I'm not going to be the one to ask GSC Game World for LESS game though. I'll take the full 150GB, thanks.)
Like you dont need the textures for playing at 4k if you dont use that resolution.
DOOM 2016 you could cut down the install size by like 8gb by deleting the audio for other languages.
A couple of years ago a game called King Arthur: Knight's Tale came out and it took 120gb. It became a massive barrier to people. So the devs compressed files and it reduced the install down to like 50gb
I know, it's just that I find it absurd that my 1 TB SSD is now barely enough these days so I'm a "little" bitter these days.
PUBG maybe not have any quests or AI, but it does have a ♥♥♥♥ load of skins.
And pure texture those things are, and texture usually take the lion share in most game file size then audio file.
So I really do wonder whether it is truely a 150GB of pure concentrated goodies or just dev being lazy.
Yeah fair point, pretty ♥♥♥♥ textures.
