That being said, back in the Stalker era games were mostly a single-player affair, with multiplayer being a side gimmick but never the main treat - my understanding Stalker 2 will follow suit. Post-launch support will be story expansions rather than live service.
Multiplayer is antithetic to Stalker's atmosphere and gameplay formula, so if you don't like their take on multiplayer you don't have to touch it. It's not a big deal if you don't. I recall playing the first game's multiplayer back when it released - it was a team deathmatch on Agroprom map, nothing to write home about and clearly an afterthought.
although isn't the mp just gonna be deathmatch or has there been word on it somewhere?
Online mode is already planned.
Which isn't saying much, though, because I'm 99 % in this for the single-player experience. Multi-player is just a distant "Maybe I'll dabble in it at some point down the line" for me.
you're saying they won't have to redesign the entire game to make it playable in coop? you do realize coop games are built from the ground up around coop, right?
TDM a DM are fossil game modes in 2024
Sure, other SP games with coop have limitations, usually the host can only advance the story, the visitor is basically just a companion. There may also be a balance issue with more humans gunning, but can just add a few more mutants to the mob. Won't be a perfect experience, but the fun would be the shared experience.
Outward is a good example of a SP game with that sort of limited coop

I want a stalker extraction shooter !
I would love open world servers with permanent progression but everyone starts with the same gear or same gear value. And with tarkov like permanent progression skills.
The extraction shooter is the best kind of shooter when done right.
Tarkov made it popular to slow down shooters while cod made it so fast it became a headache
