Disable UI elements
Hi there,

Before I buy this (huge stalker fan), I want to confirm if it's possible to disable a lot of the UI elements?
I particularly don't like the hit indicator, crosshair, and compass. Makes it feel pretty arcady.

Are these elements customizable independently?

Yes, the HUD elements are higly customisable. You can turn it off completely, or switch off some elements of your choice.

I, for example, disabled compass, hit, and threat indicator.

hmm, that doesn't sound like we can customize which elements are visible. Having those huge hit markers and a compass full of arrows and quest PoIs kind of kills the atmosphere.

Would be cool, but even with full HUD, SoC had a way of sucking you right into the zone. No other game I've ever played had that level of immersion. And looking back at the low poly models, and the janky animations, it still perplexes me, but it still had that effect nonetheless. Sound and lighting go a far way.

Oh that's new. I was hoping for that exactly and not only UI on/off.

That's really cool.
I think there will be a lot of beautiful Tik Toks about the game without the HUD)

I wonder how many people who say that UI elements break their immersion will maintain that mindset, or abandon it in favor of the min/max top shelf helmets or scopes with super targeting assist more jarring than a compass or health meter ever was.

Ok then, I'll go ahead and preorder. Thanks!

Okay, nvm, I see OP's point now. I saw some newer screenshots with the UI...
It looks bad, bright colors, big non-transparent bars, looks like something you'd see in a Tony Hawk Game.

That's great. But what about UI elements with kinda big mapped hotkeys hints like those?

EDIT:
If they were like this https://youtu.be/laYlzyB6ECU?t=53 (row on screen bottom while inventory was opened), which are about nine (9!) times smaller - then there will be no issue :radiationsymbol:

If you turn off the hud, how do you know when you are hungry or thirsty?

Visual/audio queues. I mean, it's not That hard to find an organic way to indicate those things without a UI. I'm also not talking about hiding the whole, but things like crosshair ,hit marker, box paint, ...
Restarting this cus i got a small issue i havnt read of anywhere. I like to play without crosshairs, compass, threat indicator, or ammo counter, and at 50% opacacy, more immersive :) but for some reason, only recently (about 50% into the game) ammo counter activated randomly yet is disabled, tried turnign it off and on, resetting game and even my computer, nothing. Irritating cus i got used to it and now it very noticable anytime i pull out my weapon. Any suggestion?

Same issue as yours. Turn off UI completely. That's the only way for now.
