Hopefully the art style and the atmosphere of the original games isn't lost. It's pretty easy to get a "generic" look with UE if they're not careful
Because I don't want another Metro Exodus, I loved stalker for it's dark immersive world while Metro Exodus is nothing like that except for few parts of the whole game. Also let's not make up "theories" of what are devs intentions, devs are not the ones making trailers and deciding what's in them...
but you're right about specualtion about a trailer.. it looked great but that's all it was, a look, so I'm always a bit skeptic but very hopeful
I especially liked every single bit of dialogue, it's just so natural and it screams stalker to me.. "don't treat your friends like this" "if anything, there's no real friendship in the zone"
Are the graphics impressive, clean, glossy, meeting modern standards - ABSOLUTELY
Is it stalker graphics where things in the zone are supposed to be old, rusty, worn out giving a distinct atmosphere of gloom and depression - NO.
good thing is you can turn those off manual in video driver
You do realize that 80% to 90% of the "shiny" surfaces in your screen grabs are due to obvious presence of moisture in the frame? The first pic shows heavy condensation and no roof where water would have run down or hit the brick wall. The "shiny glove" is due to the swamp like environment where leather and cloth will absorb light amounts of moisture hanging in the air, will absorb sweat, and are bound to come into contact with wet surfaces. Second to last pic shows heavy rainfall in the background where moisture will enter the tunnel. I also think you are overblowing the "Almost perfect, shiny mutant".
I agree, though, that the clothing is too new and some of the props don't indicate the degree of decay that time and zone would have imposed upon them. Finally, the artists are probably not done creating and tweaking materials and textures.
they show enviroment after enviroment of ♥♥♥♥♥♥, muddy, broken dusty old places, everything covered in dirt and grime, then the sun reflects a bit of light and all of a sudden it's become fortnite, get real guys for the love of god
still there's one more year to go so those probably aren't the final versions of the textures
At a guess they have too much specular reflection
