Artistically I like chromatic aberration, it gives a nice science/vintage/VHS feeling, 1 point for everyone I guess.
It wasn't blurrier, latest trailer has oversharp + aberrations. I don't think that oversharp and aberrations good for the game representation. It's so oversharp that I had seen aliasing on edges.
And yet you can sometimes do better with less. The fog in Silent Hill on PS1, low-resolution bodycam games, even eating healthier and cheaper since McDonald's got too expensive (over here).
Maybe they are nostalgic for the old tvs? I think some filters like black and white and film grain can look cool just not for the whole game usually.
