I expect them to have this in basegame or modders to add this, modding should be quite easier in this game since it runs on UE5 too.
Then you can go back to spending hundereds of hours in anomaly instead of trying to force additions introduced by overrated mods into the real game.

I, myself, enjoy how SoC and CoP are a mix of story and sandbox, since while new areas are locked behind main story milestones, there's no hurry and you are always free to either progress, explore or do side quests at your own pace.
But I guess die-hard ironman mode survivalists may consider "save scumming" anything short of surviving from the opening credits to the endgame credits, while fighting their hardest battles against starvation rather than mutants.
There are people who enjoy being whipped, choked or stepped on too, but that doesn't mean these activities are universally praised.
