British & American Accents
Why?

It sounds really stupid. Slavic English should be what everyone sounds like in the English version. Like the original.

Don't do this GSC for the love god, it sounds horrid and totally immersion breaking.

Agreed this is what i expect (except for the russian language that was scrapped) with english subtitles.

just hope that we get extensive subtitles like for the campfire song texts and the things the zombies are mumbling.

The trailer accents don't fit the game at all, definitely needs accents like the original games. The delivery of lines is bad too, I hope they are temporary.

"cheeki breeki" is going to sound a little odd in a tennessean twange or all scouser.

Just play it with the Ukrainian voices + English subs. Fans of Japanese games do this all of the time. I fail to see the issue here, you're given options.

because the original games had English voices with a heavy Russian accent that added to the atmosphere, It was part of the games charm.

Did it occur to you the Stalkers could be coming from all over the world? Simple explanation, which begs the question why your mind cannot fathom it?

I prefer actual English over broken, stupid sounding fake accents, tbh. Same as the Chernobyl mini series. That being said, it's already confirmed that you can play the game in Ukrainian with English subtitles, so what exactly is your issue here?

Yeah but most stalkers are Soviet, it would make sense if there was a single foreigner merchant (there probably is in the older games, I just don't remember anymore) but all of them being British makes 0 sense.

I like those stupid sounding fake accents and so do others. It adds a certain charm. I would rather the awesome sounding broken english speaking slavic accents over the crap that was in the trailer.

I have to agree here its far more credible to pretend having a bunch of eastern europeans with very messed up english in the zone trying to accomodate one or two english speaking stalkers over the alternative of having a whole bunch of englishman stalkers that purged the zone of the eastern europeans.

That said if the subtitles are expansive enough to cover the song texts and the mumbling of zombies (and i hope if i point the aiming marker towards ukrainian signs ala metro exodus) i wil absolutely use ukrainian language with english subtitles.
If GSC would be kind enough to clarify their intentions on the full extent of english subtitles i would think it would go a long way in ending this discussion once we know our options.

Using chernobylite as an example for English voice acting is a joke. I can't play that game because of how bad it is and from the latest trailer it looks like stalker 2 is on par with it.

The Metro series did voice acting the right way. Imagine all the characters in those games speaking with English and American accents, that would be cringe and less memorable
Metro's voice acting is not great, though. It's a good example of why you shouldn't give actors fake accents. (Plus the really not good child voices.)

Fake accents as a general rule are dramatically flattening and should only be done if the story calls for it. They turn characters into cartoons. Some actors speak English fluently with a noticeable Eastern European (Polish, Ukranian, etc.) accent. That's fine. Let them speak in their natural accent. As long as they're fluent. Someone like Mark Ivanir obviously needs a bit of direction to get it right, but he can perform fluently in English. Most ESL Eastern European actors can't. That's why British and American and so on actors are hired.

On the other side of the coin, getting native American and British English speakers to mangle their performances under a cartoon version of a "Russian" accent is silly. This is supposed to be a serious story.

The voice acting in the original STALKER games takes really good actors like Jim Ward and Robin Atkin Downes, and has them fake Russian their way through dialogue, resulting in something that STALKER fans are nostalgic for but mainstream audiences think is stupid.

In the film The Eagle has Landed, Michael Caine plays a German officer who doesn't speak in a German accent. He speaks in his natural speaking voice, and it's one of the best performances of his career, and one of the most interesting WWII films. That's the model to follow. Aim for the best performance, not some meme-tier vibes.

Another irony is that Chernobylite's main characters are Canadian and British. But some people want them to speak with bad "Russian" accents so when the Canadian opens up to the British guy about his past it's more "authentic". It's super, super silly.

I can’t believe you’re defending the English voice acting in the trailer. Did you see and hear something different to what I did? It was just plain awful. Maybe if they hired people with actual talent, I might think differently about the whole accent thing but that’s not the reality we live in. Michael Caine is a bad example. The only accent he can do is his own cockney sounding one. I’m not surprised he didn’t do a German accent because it is beyond his abilities as an actor. Here’s an example of someone who can actually act –

I think if GSC spent a little bit more of all that pre-order money on actual talent then the English voiceover might be better. How much does Peter Stormare cost? Surely not much. JK

It's fine. One of the actors seems a little stiff, but overall it's fine. I'd argue they nail the reverent exasperation of a blind visionary. The style they seem to be going for reminds me a little bit of Kingdom Come Deliverance. Also, it's a bit like Chernobylite, and that game has pretty good voice acting.
