For me it's almost always spells first, then creatures then potions. With potions and spells you can punch far above your creatures weight.
I'm in the middle on this one. I typically don't use anything but the long spike and saw wall. Tho some recent missions have shown some trap combos that I may be trying instead.
The writing has been mostly win. There's been a few spots where it felt forced or weak, but the vast majority has been exactly what I was expecting and hoping for.
Evil and Gold are infinite in missions, tho their sources become less and less and eventually hit a low income rate if you play on a map long enough. You can upgrade everything to max, but you'll be spending quite a bit of time to do so.
Undead, while the initial cost of recruiting is high, are absolute god-tier units once leveled up. Their cost is a great balance to their power.
Level up the Dungeon branch and it increases her max level. She still has to gain experience, tho.
I love and hate this addition. It adds a level of progression, but it can also be frustrating when you're trying to quickly get set up on a new mission.
It's not any faction. The Hand of Terror is just a gauntlet.
This bothered me at first. But it made sense once I had access to Expert spells. Thalya's spells are very limited in their scope but are also very powerful. The storm she can summon is massive boost to your army. If it used mana, you'd just be spamming it on cooldown, which is not the intention.
I absolutely evilly do recommend Dungeons 4. I don't know if I'd rank it above Dungeons 3, but it's a strong contender for Best in the Series so far. I'm on Mission 17 I think.
frankly speaking ... from the start of any stage .. upgrade your Dungeon's main rooms top priority, invest resources in the horde, or the undead; the horde has healers and good tanks , the undead have summoned ghosts and are immortals as long as you have a graveyard. invest in the demons faction enough resources to unlock the arcanuim and spells.... SKIP ALL THE DEMONS! don't even bother summoning a single demon! 666 x 4 = 2664 gold to summon 1 demon of each type! not even worth it! having literally disowned all the demons, now you can focus on the other 2 factions and the main Dungeon upgrades..
main story levels 2,3,4 all taught us that Dungeons 4 IS DESIGNED IN A WAY VERY SIMILAR TO Dungeons 2; MEANING: YOU CAN PLAY THE ENTIRE GAME WITH A SINGLE FACTION AND IGNORING THE OTHERS! this is no longer about building the biggest most epic possible army, rather it's ... pick your style and play! "EVILLNESS" IS NOT A RESOURCE! IT'S A CURSE!
too rare, extremely scarce, and paranormally PARALYZING! everything needs it, and you'd kiss your luck good bye with its extreme scarcity! you get to own a few thousands? PROTECT THEM WITH YOUR LIFE! Evilness' scarcity makes the game LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE as long as you try to play it as Dungeons 3, where Evilness is plenty! and makes playing the game and upgrading actually fun!
get magic , get numbers, and if you aren't interested, then just skip the undead altogether and make an entire army of horde units only, and then operate the dungeon ..
with Evilness' scarcity.. just pick your preferred faction and skip all the others.
NO WONDER LITTLE SNOTS NOW CAN DO ALL THE CHORES! THE GAME IS LITERALLY TELLING YOU "PICK ONE FACTION ONLY" OR TRY TO BE THE JACK OF ALL THE TRADES but sacrifice ALL the upgrades! you CAN'T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT AS WELL! ...
still .... this is a "review mid progress" who knows what may happen when i finish the game..
Dungeons 1 was really unique!
Dungeons 2 was typical 3 factions and you just play with each
Dungeons 3 was a master piece! YES they removed some units, but the game is still EVEN NOW a great gem!
Dungeons 4 ..... "playing, and won't judge it before i finish it"
Though, once I unlocked the perk that turns permadead minions into ghost heroes, I shifted to just making a big blob of orcs and some nagas and just suiciding into things to generate ghosts. It's fun. They don't really come online until you unlock their room and vampire queens to give them some staying power, but even at low levels the ghost heroes seem to be strong enough to justify their inability to heal in the early game.
if you wish to start making problems .. i'll just block you. this review is not done yet. and i just finished level 8.
i started checking all the units.. anyone who needs only gold, will be recruited, anyone who needs evilness will be initially ignored.
i tried to use "resource" spell with "evilness" .. and obviously... not allowed..
were you able to get 500 evilness every time you use "resources" spell.. the game would have become instantly 10/10 game of the year.. but again .. that would break the strategy altogether..
also with level 8 .. i'm not sure if it's the perk, or it's the prison.. but i finally managed to start generating zombies.. that's a +1 in my score!
also ... the undead now can DANCE! .. the horde demands the training arena, the demons want mana pool and undead... wish to dance!
by the way ... manavorse can all go to oblivion! how annoying!
reached level 8, and 1 quarter in my path through the game.. Thalya broke the 4th wall stating the game has 20 levels .. just like the previous games. i bet after meeting Gorugo that Thalya is going 100% child free life forever! she's a Drow ... so a "long living" race.
What??? How this is good thing?
They dumb down game so much it is unbelievable...
