How do you effectivly use guardhouses?
I know you can plop units in them, but every time i end up going to the overworld i hit f2 to grab all my guys then head out. Is there a way to assign them to a post permanently?

It's kind of a useless building at the moment. The bell seems bugged, and quite honestly the game tells you whenever enemies invade your dungeon. Evilness is such a scarce and difficult to acquire resource that it's not worth sinking into a fairly worthless building.

I beat the game on hard and never once used a guard house or the throne room upgrades, they just don't seem worth it.

Yeah that is kinda the idea i was getting. Instead of trying to manage the guardhouse, just add more traps. Just figured i should ask in case i was missing something really good.

I think the level 3 upgrade gives you an armor bonus, but again that's evilness that could be spent upgrading your creature level which is the most important thing in the game.

The bonus to armor from the room is actually great. The second throne room upgrade (100 evilness total) is actually busted as hell. It makes it so the throne room turns into a tower and does a stupid (ly high) amount of damage to enemies. @nd throne room upgrade means a bunch of early waves as well as things like manavores don't even need to be dealt with since the throne room can handle it all by itself, giving you more time on the surface to farm evilness.

Interesting.

Does it do enough damage to kill level 4 or 5 manavores? I usually rush back to kill those things because they are absolutely murderous when they upgrade.

I'll have to give it a try tonight when I'm home.

It rips them to absolute shreds. And worst case scenario if you just take one monster and repeatedly pick it up and drop it around the different entrances to the dungeon heart you can get mobs to chase after it. The thrones firing range extends to the doorways (ranged units can out-range it so you have to bait them inside the room). For context it does anywhere from 113 to 223 damage per shot every few seconds to multiple creatures at once on hard difficulty.

I've seen it take on as much as two packs of spiders or 5 lvl 2-4 manavores at once by itself.

I used to like the guard post in D2 because the bell would trip anytime someone stepped on a guard tile and my troops would head to the bell. Good for calling your troops with no resources required since the flag required resources. It doesn't seem to work the same in D4 that I can see.

The guard room provides a buff for the units assigned to it when upgraded. So my only use-case for it is to always try to fight on the guard rooms. Otherwise there's not really any benefit to using it.

Use ctrl-groups instead of F2 and you can grab a sub-set of units. The point of the All hotkey is to grab everything so if you want all but what's in the guard room, assign the rest to a ctrl-group and go..

I have never built this room. Ever.
