Snots won't mine diamond vein sometimes.

Anyone else run across this? Two times now I have uncovered diamond veins in dwarf caverns in my dungeon. After evicting all the dwarves, my snots won't mind the diamond vein discovered in there. They are the only diamond veins on those particular maps so I found myself running out of gold late game.

It's not that not enough snots are mining it. I get there's a max of 4 per node. None of them at all mine it. I have tried everything I can think of, like drawing a treasury room around it and making sure there are multiple paths to get to it. The snots go into the room fine, but they just ignore the diamond vein. I could be totally broke and pick up 10 snots and drop them right on the vein and they will just run off and do something else.

Do you mark the diamond vein to be mined and is there a treasure room nearby?

If it doesn't work, it sounds like the snots have something higher on their priority list they want to take care of first.

You cannot order a snot to mine.

In the game I am flat broke and there can be 15 snots in the throne room sweeping and worshipping Thalya and they will not touch a the diamond vein.

when picking up the snots, there is a vertical line of priorities. set them for gold collection.

they won't mine it if its still on dwarven territory.

You can't order them specifically but you have to mark the diamond vein to be mined just as you would any gold tile you want mined.

Are you sure your snots are capable of mining the tier of stone that the diamond vein is in? Most times they are in dirt, but sometimes they can be in stone or even greystone, this might be what's causing the issue.

This looks like the vein wasn't tagged or the tag bugged out - tho personally never seen it to bug. Untagging it and tagging again should solve the issue tho - if it's not that then you're either missing something or your installation is corrupted

Frankly the element that comes to mind is 'wrong kind of stone' for diamon vein. Diamond veins come in 3 varieties, one per each stone tier. It sounds like the tier of vein was higher than tools that Your snots have.

Well if it a dwarven fortress the lift will bring heroes the snots will run from the heroes and basically you will not be able to mine it then.
Also if this doses not work you could build a voodoo brew research higher tier potions and use the stone into gold potion to create an infinite gold source

lvl 4 dungeon, lvl 4 snots. all enemies will ignore a lvl 4 snot. i generally excavate the whole dwarven base.. and leave them standing around with no walls. or i'll set up gobbler bombs around the outside. pummel them for awhile before invading. the bomber can shoot over walls. but enemies won't attack a bomber, so u can plant it in the middle of thier base.. and they don't even mind.. while they burn away (insert evil laugh)

the only reliable way i found is a trick from dk2 days.make a vault room around the diamonds or gold put a door lock it by clicking on it add snots and profit.on a side note it seems in this game monsters can still get paid by other vaults in the dungeon so you dont have to unlock the door or move the gold out the locked room like other dk style games.

I had this issue in another mission, the snots were mining the diamonds but then randomly stopped and all just stood around sweeping the throne room despite my treasury being almost empty.

I have the same problem. My snots can definitely mine it, but just stand around. Even if I lock them in.

i just make a big room with 1 entrance, then i put a door and lock the amount of snots in there equal to how many walls the diamond vein has.
this makes it so they HAVE to mine and can not run away!
i will get every perk for them except the one that allows them to teleport around!

i only have gold issues early - mid game.
rarely ever end game when i am maxing factions to rank 10, and getting the Vault of Might pylons
