thank you very much for your support.
We would like to draw your attention to the Map Editor already included in the game. Although it is currently still in Beta, you can already build your own fully functional maps and share them with the community via Mod.io.
You can find the Map Editor via the main menu and the 'Extras' section.
Have a good one! :)
what´s wrong with you? most people here ask for random-map-generator since relase and you say "try map editor". lol.
The map-editor (yes beta blabla) is not an compensation for missing random-map-generator like in Dungeons 3.
Nearly all Dungeon 4 buyers want it, so bring it.
Can´t understand why you guys dont had the "idea" for random map generator when you developed the game...
hey now be nice.... game just recently came out and they are still putting effort into this game...
as for why map editor vs random maps... I can see the reason why.... look at other games like mario maker and such for instance.... having focus on community made content vs just random generated maps... means more engagement with fans... as well as a better look into what players like i'd imagine in map designs....
- 20 campaign maps (4 are tutorial)
- 4 regular skirmish maps and one sandbox
- so far 1 good map made in editor.
and war for the overworld was inspired by dungeon keeper, starcraft, overlord, and evil genius....
you do not speak for all the fans of this game.... I myself am not interested in "random maps".... pretty much in any game really.... I always prefer story or community made maps over random ones.... I think I played the dungeons 3 exploding sheep DLC level like 50 times lol.... and in this game ive played the final mission like about 10 times so far or so.... keep trying to find the perfect dungeon layout and take my time...
I see your whole point of random maps being good for pumping out unlimited maps and all allowing unlimited potential of content essentially.... but I also know that lot of games have been gradually pushing for more freedom on the players end of things.....
skyrim raised in popularity due to mods... the whole reason DOTA even exists was due to a community map for warcraft 3... "dream of the ancients" map I believe.... team fortress was based off a mod of Quake....
I cant think off the top of my head any game that rose in popularity from "random map" generation like your asking for.... closest comes to my mind is games like diablo... but even then the randomness of the maps is not so random...
i was talking about fans, dont say anything about all fans but lets say most fans and yes i take the example war for the overworld because they more similar to dungeons 3 than mario maker.
and popularity games with random maps are like: sid meier's civilization 1-6,age of wonders 1-4, the settlers 1- idont know how much and so on, there are really alot of games and in age of wonders 4 there are even many extra options for random maps and it has a huge replayability.
in settlers 4 it has even boths and i love to create even a 5 chapter long campaign for the playable dark tribe with the map editor but for the quick matches with friends we just get both surprised by the random maps buttons so its an adventure for both players to explore the new random map instead of tinkering and testing hours, days or even weeks on one single map.
in short to make everyone happy just add a random generator from dungeons 3 and keep the level editor too.(like in settler 4 so both sides are happy)
and dont start with mods, mods are nothing official and mostly pc exklusiv, or try playing skyrim mods on nintendo switch both pay the same money but only pc ones get more content or complicated modded consoles and hacks are required but again its nothing official with this stuff.
Still love mods in settler 4 for the playable dark tribe but its not officialy tested and fair to use.
ah... yeah I never played civilizations, age of wonders, or settlers... I've tried looking into some of those before to see if they were worth it....
but yeah I can see those as being good examples though based on the type of games they are...
