4 also relies quite heavily on 3 and builds up on top of it, so getting straight into 4 might seem jarring when going for the campaign, if you care for that sort of things.

Discombobulating is the present participle of discombobulate.
it means to confuse, befuddle, bewilder.
Dungeons 4 also makes a lot of tweaks to the gameplay that I really liked (for the most part. I miss Isles of Evilness). I was worried that it'd be difficult to go back to 3 after playing through 4, but the transition actually ended up being pretty easy for me. So I think there's value in owning both games eventually. But getting started with 3 would probably be easier on your wallet.
