I really was hoping for at least a Secret of Mana tier remake....
I have to agree on this one. SNES is one thing, but Gameboy games are like 16KB or something. The picture on the main menu is probably bigger than both games combined.
most were hoping for the remakes to be ported and translated instead
The original GB versions should have just been included for free with true-to-form remakes. It's not something worth paying for at this point.
Could the production cost is so low, they make money on a single sale. They already made the money on the gameboy versions, they just dumped the ROM and put it in an opensource emulator wrapping. The cost to make this was probably $10,000 at most.
I might wait for a sale, though. It depends on how long it takes for me to finish the game I'm currently playing.
"storing it forever" is a bit misleading, you don't actually own games in your Steam library. If Valve ever disables your account, sells out, or goes out of business, they are technically "leasing" the game to you and can claw it back and remove your account at any point.
"According to the agreement that you agree to every single time you buy a game on Steam, "the Content and Services are licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Content and Services." You're not buying the games, you're buying the license to use them."
