Disciples II: Gallean's Return

Disciples II: Gallean's Return

Servants of the Dark campaign/expansion is missing?
The store page for this title specifically states: "Disciples II: Gallean's Return is a compilation edition that includes the base game, Disciples II: Dark Prophecy, plus the two standalone expansions Disciples II: Guardians of the Light and Disciples II: Servants of the Dark."

However, when I start a new game, I am only presented with two campaign selections; Dark Prophesy and Guardians of the Light. There is no other Disciples II item in my library besides "Desciples II: Gallean's Return".

How do I access the Servants of the Dark campaign? Is it rolled into GotL? WHat am I missing?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about this but I thought the SotD Expansion is the opportunity to play the main campaign (dark prophecy) with the Demons or Undead...

Oh - well that might explain a few things. The original retail game I bought many years ago had the option of playing all four races - I didn't know that the demons and undead were extras. I gave the game away at some point so can't confirm, but this would imply that what I bought back then was a sorta Silver Edition.

Thanks for the feedback! I was tempted to request a refund but I'll just play it!

Gallean really contain what described on store page. Steam version of D2 Gold is most complete - with content from later 2006 Gold.
But missed 2.02+3.01 exe's

I linked somewhere here _Manuals and also exe files. Dont forget to extract VPK_dir archives

What do I need these for?

Valve in 2014 did some update (along with Steam 2013 SteamPipe update) to old games. And put whole game to VPK. And add steamclient DRM to exe files. Im not sure if old GCF Steam release be with actual exe. But Valve add omething from themself for sure.

Old GCF version, as any other oldest steam games and like Source engine - and like most data archives - old version use extracted content first than load content from archives.
Now VPK version not allow custom content and always load VPK content. Even Extras folder with maps and heroes.

VPK is a format for Source and require VPK addon installer + addons menu in game (left 4 dead)

I honestly don't understand any of that :(

The game loads and runs without any problems? (so far)

If you look carefully when you choose your sides you will see that
Empire/Mountain Clans are playable only as Guardians of the Light.
Undead Hordes/Legions of the Damned only as Servants of the Dark.

Dark Prophecy is the same for both.
