Same for me, very frustrating!

It looks like the update implemented a rolling savegame system:

If you go to your %appdata%\Godot\app_userdata\Dome Keeper folder, I'm guessing that you'll find your savegame, but you may need to copy or rename it.

The game should create a copy of the savegame4_full file, named savegame4_full0, after the first launch on the new version.

Since the update, data has been loaded from this "0" file. If there were issues migrating the file—possibly due to installed mods or similar factors—something may have gone wrong.

Please try the following steps:
- Unsubscribe from all mods.
- Create a backup of the Dome Keeper folder in %appdata%\Godot\app_userdata.
- Delete all numbered savegame4_full files (savegame4_full0 to savegame4_full2).
- Rename the remaining savegame4_full file to savegame4_full0.

You can also check the comments in the news post. It seems some mods might have also modded the save system, which can cause a loss of progress if it is incompatible. Ron's suggestion should help :)

Thank you, I had the Diamonds mod installed and it created a savegame4_diamond_full0 savegame file. I renamed it as you suggested and it restored my old content. BTW love this game and Im hoping for a sequel please!!

I've never used any mods, but haven't played the game since June last year, and my progress also seems to have reset. I think I still have my save file (savegame_full.json), but the game seems to be making new save files instead, starting with savegame4_full0.json, and now others too. I've tried deleting and renaming some to try to restore the previous save, and i'm a bit confused about the naming convention it's using.

I'm not sure what to rename the old one save to restore it, or how to proceed. Any advice?

Delete the new saves and rename savegame_full.json to savegame4_full0.json.

Delete the new saves and rename savegame_full.json to savegame4_full0.json.

Thanks, I tried that, but when I do, it still only lets me start a new game.

Huh. In that case, let it create a new game, then exit, note the new file's name, delete that file and rename your old save to the same filename. Make sure that you're adding the ".json" only if you have filename extensions enabled in File Explorer. If they're disabled, you could be ending up with savegame4_full0.json.json, which the game will not recognize.

Thank you again. As soon as I launch the game with my "savegame_full.json" present, the game creates the following files:

savegame4_full.json
savegame4_full0.json
savegame4_full1.json
savegame4_full2.json

No additional files are created when I actually click to start a new game.

I'm not sure which one of those filenames to rename mine to. I notice that "savegame4_full0.json" is the only new file that has the same "date created" timestamp as my original save file, even though "savegame4_full0.json" has only just now been created. Confusing. I notice there also seem to be two different filesizes among the files.

Try deleting them and renaming your savegame to savegame4_full.json. I suggested renaming it to savegame4_full0.json earlier because that's what the developer said to do above, but, if that doesn't work, it may need to be savegame4_full.json. I think that that's the current savegame that the game uses (it certainly was before this latest update) and then the 0-2 versions are meant to be the backups.
